Senior Business Intelligence Data Analyst

Job Summary

Produce financial and clinical intelligence by querying data repositories and generating reports and data extracts. Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in information technology or data related field preferred. Previous experience in data mining, report development and data extraction may be substituted for degree.

Minimum Work Experience

Must have general knowledge of computer software and hardware, with Windows operating system knowledge. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a data and reporting role. Previous health care experience preferred.

Requires skilled use of tools such as Excel, databases, business intelligence and report writing tools. Requires high degree of accuracy and organization in all assignments. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and telephone etiquette skills required. High level of integrity required.

Essential Functions

  • Works with internal and external customers and to gather and validate requirements data and reporting requirements.

  • Develops and writes business requirements for the design of solutions.

  • Researches business problems and assists in the creation of models that help analyze these problems.

  • Provides input to business requirements for the design of solutions.

  • Identifies and provides input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the enterprise wide BI systems.

  • Advises executives on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimization.

  • Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.

  • Designs "views", custom reports, and data extractions according to defined requirements.

  • May perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.

  • Researches business problems and creates models that help analyze these business problems.

  • Assists in developing best practices for report deployments.
