Central Retail Pricing is core team that generates prices for worldwide Amazon inventory, you'll play a key role in the evolution of our machine learning based Pricing algorithms to solve the world's most complex technical challenges in pricing optimization, large-scale computing, distributed systems, web applications, algorithms and data mining - to name a few. The Pricing systems are responsible for determining and publishing prices automatically, for the millions of items that Amazon sells worldwide ranging from Books to Consumer Electronics to Shoes.

Each country presents a unique set of complexities in generating the price. We are experimenting with new machine learning and reinforcement learning algorithms to lower the prices for our customers. We are redesigning our core services to scale up with Amazon's growth plans.

In this role, you will identify and drive machine-learning projects. You will generate insights from ML model data and share it with our stakeholders.

You will help to establish measurements that will be used to measure the impact of the machine learning models. You will generate the metrics for price quality, perception and financials. You will help to influence the development of new ML models that will influence the way we come up with prices for our products Worldwide.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision. You must be a fast learner who can quickly absorb the nuances of Amazon's varied pricing programs and processes. You need to be analytical in your decision making, with a demonstrated ability to drive issues to completion.

To be successful you will need to be able to keep the long-term objectives in mind while guiding the team through short-term obstacles. You will need to collaborate closely with business leads, product owners, technical program managers, designers and partner teams. You are comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and are always open to identifying alternative paths.

Role Expectations:

  • Work closely with the partner BIE, econ and ML teams to identify and address issues and opportunities.

  • Facilitate and manage the Retail Pricing BIE sprint planning and execution process

  • Analyze key metrics to uncover trends and root causes of issues.

  • Build metrics to measure key inputs and output metrics that drive Amazon prices

  • Develop deep dive tools for key metrics.

They will lead all aspects of the delivery of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and will synthesize overall strategy by analyzing a wide variety of solutions, selecting the most relevant tools/techniques to meet specific client requirements such as business case, pricing, or complex analysis, and interpreting and reporting on outputs. Applicant must possess an excellent understanding of the data warehouse lifecycle and have advanced Business Intelligence skills and a drive towards offering analytics as a service. The responsibilities of the individual in this position: * Design, develop and implement robust Data Engineering and BI solutions to serve the needs of our business primarily using SQL Server and Microsoft BI stack. * Analyze existing databases, reports, and processes for opportunities to further automate or simplify utilizing modern tools * Collaborate with business users to analyze business processes and requirements and identify opportunities to improve those processes with technology solutions * Perform data analysis, data investigation, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, and Data presentation and Visualization. * Provide day to day support and maintenance for existing ETL and BI reports, maintain source control and documentation * Proactively identify development needs for improving and streamlining the tools under ownership * Query, analyze and interpret investment data. Discuss and document conclusions, assumptions, and results and develop integral knowledge of investment data sources, data models, relationships and content. * Provide identification and documentation of data quality issues. Propose and implement solutions to resolve or work around those issues. The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following: * Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science or related field. Master's in Computer Science preferred * 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering and BI/analytical tools * Experience working with Microsoft BI Suite (SSIS, Power BI, SSRS, SSAS) and developing statistical packages in SQL * Complex SQL query development and performance tuning skills * Expertise creating and maintaining reliable data pipelines * Proven data warehousing and data mart development expertise * Excellent data integration and data mapping experience * Multiple development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall * Nice to have Python/SAS/R/Azure experience * Finance or Asset Management experience preferred; retail, e-commerce or tech industry alternatively Russell Investments Seattle WA
