This role is responsible for the management of current customer accounts and business development in our asphalt additives segment - securing new customers and introducing new products to the customers in order to achieve margin target goals. In addition, the position will be responsible for growing profitability by building the market position, identifying growth opportunities and leading the development and delivery of new products, applications and services to the customer and achieving growth goals. The position provides solutions to technical problems, identifies growth opportunities, identifies industry trends and leads the development and delivery of solutions to the customers.

Principal Accountabilities
50% - Account management - develop and implement a strategy by account that defines the potential business available and details the process for capturing the business. This includes identification of key decision makers, products, pricing, technical support needs, and other resources required to close sales.
20% - Business development - translate customer needs, identify and close technical gaps in Cargill offering that will create distinctive value for customers in these market segments. Convey product and company features and benefits to prospective and current customers. Apply appropriate resources for gaining and maintaining business, with both current product line and new products.
10% - Lead cross-functional teams in the development, communication and implementation of strategies to capture opportunities and grow business globally with current and prospective customers and new products in the market category(s).
10% - Develop and leverage understanding of targeted asphalt segment to drive 'best in class' understanding of customer issues and potential solutions, leading to becoming supplier of choice for key and strategic customers.
10% - Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to travel domestically 75%

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related technical field OR minimum 10 years' experience in asphalt industry sales

Experience

  • Minimum seven years of commercial experience - sales, business development, product management, or other direct commercial experience

  • Minimum three years of commercial or technical asphalt experience

  • Chemical industry experience

Skills

  • Ability to build long-term, sustainable business-to-business relationships within organizations (both internally and externally)

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate value propositions with multiple functions, resulting in increased value for both companies

  • Demonstrated collaboration, communication, and leadership skills

  • Customer champion

  • Strong negotiation skills
