The Sr. Business Data Analyst is accountable for generating routine and ad hoc analysis through the use of company selected software to identify opportunities and measure performance. Produce reports, timelines, and graphs using advanced functions of a personal computer. Create reports from existing databases to satisfy user requests, data sampling, project analysis or testing verification.
Analyze and problem solve high complexity/high impact business inquiries using retail transactional data and systems.
Identify problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to improve store performance and overall business processes.
Utilize business systems relating to the integration and management of retail transactional data for financial and operational reporting.
Assist with integration and maintenance of operational reports utilizing Excel VBA, Access, SQL Server and BI (Business Intelligence) systems.
Develop graphs, reports, and presentations of project results as needed.
Perform basic statistical analyses for projects and reports.
Create and present quality dashboards.
Generate routine and ad hoc reports.
Prepare and generate required reports, analysis, and dashboards in established time frames.
Recommend process improvements and enhancements to the Director Business Analysis.
Assist Director Business Analysis in developing required analysis.
Adhere to legal requirements and ensure department standards are met.
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Finance or equivalency.
2-4 years' experience in data mining techniques and procedures.
Microsoft Access and Excel VBA programming experience.
Experience with complex queries and report writing using SQL/Relational Database systems like TSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or comparable.
Technical expertise regarding data models and database design.
Experience with Enterprise BI (Business Intelligence) and reporting systems like MicroStrategy, Tableau, SAP, Cognos, or comparable.
Basic understanding of statistics, data manipulation, and research methods.
Basic knowledge of statistical programming languages such as R, and Python preferred.
Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret information from raw data/reports and effectively communicate this information to business partners.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Requires good interpersonal, problem-solving and organization skills.
Must possess strong communication skills, oral and written.
Requires extensive attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Primary responsibilities require sitting, operating and viewing a computer and other business equipment for up to 12 hours.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear and see.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Local travel is required
