JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
Responsible for coordinating the development of advance arrangements and procedures to ensure the organization can respond to a disaster so that the critical business functions can be resumed within a defined time frame, the amount of loss can be minimized, and any stricken facilities can be repaired or replaced as quickly as possible. This responsibility includes coordinating the design, development, maintenance, and exercising (testing) of the overall disaster recovery plans for each critical functional area of the organization. These disaster recovery plans must address three major elements of the recovery process: (1) the Emergency Response organization and procedures for reacting to and coordinating recovery efforts; (2) the Recovery Support procedures for restoring key organization resources; and (3) the Business Resumption procedures for the continuation of critical business processes.
The Senior Business Continuity Planner will also be responsible for participating in any actual disaster recovery effort and will devise and oversee the processes, plans and procedures in place for the most risk intensive areas of the organization in the event of a disaster.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the development, implementation and testing of all business unit recovery plans.
Conducts a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) on all business units.
Identifies and implements a recovery strategy for all business units.
Establishes disaster recovery testing methodologies; plans and coordinates the testing of recovery support and business resumption procedures in different functional areas; Assures that recovery procedures are effective for the restoration of key corporate resources and for the resumption of critical business processes.
Conducts Disaster Recovery tabletop tests in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Manages the scheduling and coordination of all business unit and IT business recovery tests with the recovery vendor.
Creates testing standards and coordinates with internal departments.
Creates and manages the company's Pandemic Response Plan and updates as needed based on regulatory requirements.
Documents, evaluates and presents written report to the Board of Directors concerning results of the recovery test.
Directs Business Recovery Awareness programs.
Assists the incident commander in the response, recovery and restoration of affected areas during a disaster or disruption.
Activates and schedules meetings of the Incident Management team in the event of a disaster situation.
Conducts an annual Hurricane Preparation meeting with Incident Management team and key Business Unit managers prior to Hurricane season.
Provides Incident Management team with timely updates of current incident.
Acts as an assistant to the Incident Commander at the Incident Command Center.
Documents and prepares written report to Board of Directors on activities of Incident Management team.
Participates as Business Recovery liaison in all FDIC Exams and Internal/External Audit programs.
Stays abreast of changes in compliance and guidelines issued by bank regulatory agencies.
Develops plans to continue information systems functions at other locations in the event of a disaster, such as a major power outage, fire, earthquake, hurricane, flood, or other event that interrupts normal computer operations.
Consults with management and other personnel regarding needs for data, computers, and communications, personnel requirements, processing schedules, and regulatory and legal responsibilities.
Evaluates need for and arranges off-site facilities for data archiving, storage, and access.
Locates, inspects, and contracts for off-site facilities and equipment for resuming computer operations in the event of a disaster.
Consults with departments to identify key personnel and contacts and establishes notification processes for communicating in the event of emergencies.
Develops, documents, and communicates disaster recovery procedures and information throughout the organization.
Implements and coordinates tests of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Coordinates development and implementation of disaster recovery operations with local and government emergency agencies and external service providers.
Assists with the implementation of disaster recovery plans in the event of a disaster or emergency that interrupts normal information system operations.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training
Formal Logistics Plans and Programs training highly desirable
Language Skills
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook email software; Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
No specific certifications, licensure or registrations are needed to satisfactorily perform this job however Certification in Business Continuity (CBCP or higher) is preferred
