The Role

Are you an influential and creative Senior Business Analyst that wants to put your skills to work in the Security and Compliance area? Are you interested in joining a small, nimble team that has a really big impact on how the business meets our customers' compliance requirements? Do you want to have a hand in making the business work and enabling the delivery of the world's best security products?

You will be partnering across the company to help define light-weight processes that address compliance requirements from SOC 2, FedRAMP, SOX, etc. and working with product teams to put in place necessary processes and controls to achieve the desired certifications. This is an opportunity to leverage your business analyst experience in a new exciting space and to figure out how to best match compliance requirements to light-weight processes. The goal is to ensure that a security mindset frames the basis for how we manage the business so that we remain effective stewards for our customers' data. You will also collaborate with other members of the Security and Operations teams to ensure we have a full lifecycle and end-to-end view that spans policies, processes, controls, and evidence.

Your day-to-day

  • Partner with product teams to understand what it will take to achieve desired business compliance goals and drive development of a implementation plan

  • Translate compliance requirements into implementable policies and procedures

  • Review business processes to identify and address potential risks

  • Partner with the audit team in planning company-wide audit activities

  • Coordinate across multiple business units and product teams

  • Build positive working relationships by serving as a consultant and liaison between product teams and audit leads

  • Interpret and translate audit controls and evidence criteria for internal product teams and other stakeholders, including external auditors

  • Analyze and resolve audit issues in a proactive and timely fashion

  • Provide data analysis support for ongoing compliance monitoring

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about audit controls and techniques

  • Utilize innovative ideas and tools to enhance operational effectiveness

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to business practices, processes, and controls

What you bring to the team

  • Experience with translating business requirements into project implementation plans and validation, including user acceptance testing

  • Passion about process improvement and removing friction from systems

  • Ability to clearly articulate a business case

  • Ability to create clear, effective process documentation

  • Ability to seek out and engage with/influence people across organizations

  • Ability to escalate issues using good judgement

  • Direct experience with audit frameworks, e.g., SSAE 16 SOC 2, SOX, PCI, etc.

  • Background in IT hardware/software concepts and processes used within business, covering

  • Core security concepts

  • Cloud-based services

  • Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Open-source databases

  • Experience with auditors and the evidence collection process

  • Experience with the design and testing of IT security controls in a managed hosting and/or Software-as-a-Service environment

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

  • Project management and facilitation skills

  • Effective team collaboration plus the ability to coach and mentor others

This role will be responsible for analyzing huge databases of information to develop insights into the behaviors of current, former, and prospective customers, including supporting the testing of new offers in new markets. The Business Intelligence Analyst will work with primary, secondary, qualitative, and quantitative research to develop thoughtful analyses and insights. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering strategic insights and high-quality deliverables. This person will be a curious and independent thinker who is passionate about data, analysis and insight. The individual will be able to work autonomously and across related initiatives to find powerful insights that drive the development and marketing of Financial Engines services. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Create Tableau dashboards starting with the development of database cubes or tables, from multiple raw data sources using SQL. * Document data and analysis requirements for conducting product or feature tests. * Identify big insights that will drive new market and product development. * Synthesize data into visual concepts for internal and external presentation. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide input into the development of various business model prototypes. * Serve as an internal expert on our customer's behavior. * Identify and drive changes in Financial Engines processes needed to ensure we collect better data. * Present key research findings to project teams and senior executives. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Strong statistics background, possibly from economics, computer science or mathematics. * 3-8 years+ experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative behavioral data. * High proficiency in SQL (preferably Redshift). * Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g. Python, Perl, Ruby). * Familiarity with AWS technologies preferred. * Familiarity with machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling and data interpretation is a plus. * Experience with visualization tools (preferably Tableau). * Demonstrated ability to turn detailed analysis into high-level insights. * Experience with A/B testing or multivariate testing preferred. * Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong detail orientation and problem-solving skills – experienced at figuring out the best way to gather and collect data. * Proficient in Web-analytic tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Heap) * Knowledge of the financial retirement space; 401K's, IRA's, etc. * Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with a concentration in statistics, business/marketing, or other discipline stressing quantitative/analytic skills About Edelman Financial Engines Since 1986, Edelman Financial Engines has been committed to always acting in the best interests of our clients.
