Purpose

The Finance Sr. Business Analyst (BA) will serve as functional staff within the Dell Med Finance Team to support DMS budgeting and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of the annual operating budget, providing guidance and support to all departmental personnel. Communicate budget processes and procedures to departments and provide problem-solving assistance to departments throughout the course of the budget calendar. Communicate final budgets to departments and help facilitate annual Tableau budget load and implementation.

  • Support the Finance Manager, Finance Team, and leadership, manage records, spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to effectively document and monitor budgets as assigned. Prepare routine financial reports and presentations to inform senior leadership of the status of funds and variance to budget. Review and reconcile detailed monthly departmental transaction reports. Carry out ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of Medical School initiatives including financial modeling of new business proposals. Provide other ad hoc budget reports as needed.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting. Review and analyze budget variances against plans and forecasts to aid senior leadership in programmatic and business decisions. Request budget/account transfers as appropriate.

  • Assist with preparation of deliverables, timelines, and presentation materials for the leadership team related to the Dell Medical School annual budgeting process as well as materials for department utilization.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of five years, related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytic, project management, and presentation skills, as well as demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing financial planning. Strong organizational skills, a flexible work style and be able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to self-direct learning opportunities. High level of proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs: PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc. Demonstrated ability to be resourceful and proactive, and also perform at a high level with little requirement for supervision. Dedicated to working as a member of a collaborative team. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

An advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or related field is preferred. More than three (3) years of professional experience with combination of financial analysis and reporting.

Salary Range

$65,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
