Position Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The client is currently mobilising a large programme to digitally transform the laboratory environment. Areas of focus include improving scientists' workflow efficiency through transforming how we manage lab data and the application of digital technologies to make this fit for the future. They are considering the full data lifecycle from capture to consumption, including standardisation of data ingestion from instruments; capturing adequate metadata to enable findability and interoperability; and workflow-aligned integration capabilities for accessibility and reuse. There is a parallel and aligned activity to transform the lab service offering, where architecture will also play an important role designing patterns for instrument deployment and the design of the future lab client/workstation.

The Senior Business Analyst will lead the effort to understand the business needs and analyse, validate and document the business and system requirements that address these needs in large projects and across programs to deliver strategic advantage for AstraZeneca. The role will partner with BRM to ensure the quality of business cases, oversee the design and modifications of relevant business processes and ensure that proposed solutions meet established AstraZeneca quality and compliance standards. The Senior Business Analyst will also determine the process and requirements management methodology practices within their function, ensure that the methodology, quality and compliance standards are being adhered to, and contribute to the establishment, documentation and maintenance of internal IS processes and standards for business analysis.

The Senior Business Analyst should minimally have 5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotech laboratory operations/research. For this project, the Digital Labs Business Analyst will drive requirements gathering and solutioning to drive efficient end-to-end laboratory operations. This may consist of the design and implementation of a number of solutions. He/she should be adept at benchmarking operational data and at identifying and appropriately documenting pain points in a user's experience. He or she must be comfortable and proficient in interacting directly with customers on an ongoing basis and managing their expectations. In addition, the candidate should be adept at eliciting and documenting business requirements, identifying and documented user stories, translating business requirements into solution requirements, and managing clarifications between business and technical teams. Specifically, he/she must be able to translate business-driven requirements and data into a technical solution with the support of other team members. Experience with Computer Systems Validation (CSV) and the Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) are also key qualifications.

FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

  • Demonstrates facility in customer-facing activities including:

  • Capturing and analyzing benchmarking data for operational efficiency

  • Eliciting and documenting business requirements and pain points

  • Analyzing, validating and prioritizing business requirements

  • Translating business requirements into system and non-functional requirements

  • Facilitating requirements review sessions with business and IT

  • Identifying and documenting current state business processes

  • Visioning and documenting future state business processes

  • Assists business clients with developing new business processes or modifying existing business processes (during implementation, may help develop communication material; define supporting procedures and standards; document training materials; assist in the immediate training effort; etc.).

  • Analysis of existing workflows

  • Development of efficient to be workflows

  • Identification of improvement opportunities

  • Gathering/Creating User stories for efficiency delivering solutions

  • Consistently delivers on the following internal activities while fostering a collaborative environment:

  • Maintains and manages requirements within requirements management tool and related SDLC artifacts.

  • Performs or assists with other functions including vendor coordination, planning, project management, release management and change management as assigned and actively participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Adheres to Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline)

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized

  • Ability to analyze, articulate and solve problems

  • Ability to learn quickly, move with agility between assignments, multi-task, and to work effectively in a team environment, both face-to-face and remotely

  • Ability to support projects from inception to successful implementation

  • Familiarity with software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies and deployment management

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations

  • Skill in conceptualizing creative solutions, as well as documenting them and presenting/selling them to senior management

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer expectations
