The Senior Business Analyst role will focus on achieving optimal performance of field compensation applications, including support of existing systems functionality and new development initiatives to expand capabilities.

You will:

  • Guide system Business Owners and key stakeholders in development of Business Requirements and partner with Dev Teams to understand system Functional Specifications.

  • Ensure User Stories are accurate and comprehensive relative to business requirements (including Acceptance Criteria); User Stories may be composed by Business Analysts, Business Owners or the Senior Systems Analyst but the Senior Systems Analyst will have primary responsibility for determining that stories fully express the requirements.

  • Work with Dev Teams to connect User Stories to Functional Specs and anticipate/remediate gaps between them.

  • Compose/maintain clear & accurate documentation of business logic and related technical execution within systems as a reference guide for users.

  • Lead the creation of UAT plans and coordinate execution efforts, working closely with the quality assurance and business teams; Coordinate with IT resources to define requirements for test bed data.

  • Assist Production Support process by triaging & researching issues to identify & document root cause of defects; Use results in partnership with Production Support to propose efficient solutions to open items.

  • Support business users by producing queries from systems tables as needed; Assist in development of new datamarts by identifying key data elements and sources, including context for appropriate use in reports/analysis.

Critical Criteria and Opportunities:

  • Business & System Knowledge:Develop as a SME of Agency Finance business goals and processes and how various systems inform and facilitate those processes.

  • Application Enhancements: Guide project teams in working more effectively by helping to produce more accurate and complete requirements, by organizing/communicating business input, and by tracking Dev Team progress against critical business needs.

  • Requirements Composition: Drastically improve the quality and accuracy of requirements via a thorough process of eliciting information from Business Owners and systematically dissecting and challenging that information through a formal review process to be developed and lead by the Senior Systems Analyst.

  • Testing: Lead review of ESQA test results and summarize output for business. Develop complete UAT test plan in collaboration with business team. Produce thorough test scripts designed to evaluate each requirement completely. Create criteria for test bed data and coordinate with IT resources to produce test beds for each UAT effort. Lead a team of business testers during the UAT execution process, and serve as a member of the test team. Produce reporting on test results and work with Dev Team to address defects.

  • Coordination of Support: Assist with Production Support efforts by researching defects as they arise to help propose causes and potential solutions. Collaborate with business users to develop work-arounds or to compose requirements for enhancements where necessary. Produce queries and analyses to illuminate the scope and impact of defects, and thereby to assist with prioritization of bug fixes. Collaborate with Production Support resources to understand causes and solutions to defects.

You have:

Education:

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 5 years' experience in a Project Management, Business Analyst, or other comparable role.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to comprehend complex business operations and systems structures

  • Proficient in SQL query language

  • Understanding of data structures and best-practices in working with data for analytical purposes

  • High level of comfort with project management terminology, concepts, processes & tools

  • Proven ability to elicit and compose effective business requirements

  • Problem solving proficiency

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Sense of ownership and commitment to deadlines

Overview Assumes responsibility for assisting in the efficient and effective operation of the Credit Department within the Credit Administration function.
