We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Senior Business Analyst on our Information Technology team. As a Senior Business Analyst you will partner with business stakeholders to understand their business needs, investigate options and prepare business and functional requirements for a systems solution. You will also analyze and document descriptions of user needs, including business process; workflows; data flows; use cases; and other requirements. The Senior Business Analyst will design specifications, including the functions and steps required to develop or modify the technology solutions to meet stakeholder requirements, and assist in the estimation process of implementing the technology solutions. You will work independently or as a member of the project team to ensure quality requirements. You will be responsible for providing general technical guidance concerning the business implications of the solution and ensure the user acceptance plan is traceable to all approved requirements.
Business Requirements & Documentation
Lead requirement solicitation sessions to assist in the identification, collection and consolidation of required information and data including business challenges and opportunities
Develop specifications for solutions that fulfill business requirements; manage and maintain requirements documentation
Recognize and identify potential areas where existing procedures require re-engineering, or where new ones need to be developed
Provide clarification to requirements and use cases to the QA and UAT teams
Assure that all products, requirements, and design deliverables adhere to current BA Center of Excellence standards
Operational System Support
Collaborate with designated team to provide operational system support to end users
Work with the team lead with issue resolution efforts
Assist technology stakeholders with root-cause analysis to determine underlying problems and make recommendations for short and long-term solutions
Enhance professional and technical knowledge through participation in informal and formal training sessions
Define test approach and execute test cases (plan, scenario and desire outcomes)
Identify critical business requirements which are a candidate for manual testing
Develop and maintain manual test scripts in support of regression testing as needed or processes
Assist with proper validation to ensure that issues have been resolved and processes have been implemented Share intellectual knowledge and cross-train other team members
May include other responsibilities as assigned.
BS or BA degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with analysis and problem definition in state-of-the-art information technology as it pertains to business applications and processes.
Demonstrated ability evaluating new technology and how it can improve business processes. Must have experience documenting complex business systems problems and be able to provide recommendations and research of industry trends, business products, performance analysis, feasibility, measurable key performance indicators and cost impact.
Polished communication skills: demonstrated ability to write and discuss complex business documents.
Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in business and functional requirements analysis, including use case development, workflow and data flow modeling, and software design in a web environment.
Demonstrated ability identifying what the business needs vs what the business wants; must be able to effectively explain the difference between the two concepts while gathering business requirements.
Demonstrated ability to understand general technical design specifications and architecture in order to identify potential challenges with supporting the identified business requirements. In addition, must be able to proactively identify potential risks associated with the proposed technology solution in relation to the identified business requirements.
Proactively initiates, develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external team members to achieve results. Must be able to quickly secure the trust of business stakeholders in relation to an understanding of their business.
High emotional intelligence is required. Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. Ability to adjust communication style to different audiences and roles.
