South Dakota State University (SDSU) Student Life Building Services is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as a Senior Building Maintenance Worker within our University Housing department.

Job Responsibilities: The purpose of this position is to provide carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general maintenance services to repair Housing and Residential Life buildings. To be successful as a Senior Building Maintenance Worker, candidates should be self-motivated, excel in customer service and practice strong attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Methods and practices used in carpentry
  • Basic plumbing
  • HVAC systems
  • Basic electrical
  • Paints and coatings

Skill & Ability to:

  • Read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Operate various types of power and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Follow written and verbal directions
  • Interact effectively and professionally with contractors, coworkers and customers
  • Operate grounds care equipment

Required License: Valid driver's license is required.

Comments: This position requires occasional weekends/holidays. SDSU is a tobacco free environment. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
