About the Agency:

The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Purpose of Position:

Support development, submission, and execution of Virginia Army National Guard Maneuver Training Center (VAARNG-MTC) budgets funded through federal-state Cooperative Agreements (CA). Support the development, submission, and execution of VAARNG-MTC real estate, planning, and programming actions. Communicate all budget related items to Resource Management (RM) State Resource Manager.

Telework is limited to one (1) day per week at the discretion of the agency head and supervisor and is subject to change at any time.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of budgeting/accounting software (Cardinal, GFEBS, or others);

Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP) and extensive accounting experience required;

Ability to gather and analyze complex data, prepare reports, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;

Demonstrated proficiency with computers with exceptional Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills;

Applicant must have exceptional customer service skills, be able to handle multiple tasks, have exceptional time management skills and have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills;

Applicant must have exceptional communication and verbal skills and be able to work in a fast paced setting;

Must be able to present integrated and detailed reports to upper management and communicate relevant data for leadership;

Ability to work under a short suspense goal orientated ability to track different budgets;

Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record required.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge of State/Federal policies and procedures regarding Cooperative Agreements, real property, and military construction;

Prior experience using Cardinal Financials preferred;

Prior experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia accounting process, CAPP Manual, and Federal regulations desirable.
