We currently have a position open for an Employee Benefits Health and Welfare Senior Consultant in our Indianapolis, IN office. The ideal candidate is a motivated insurance professional with 5-8 or more years of experience.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Relationship management of client.

  • Coordinate and manage the activities of marketing and renewals, recommending measures to improve satisfaction, performance and cost.

  • Recommend or initiate actions to effectively and proactively service the client. Plan, direct and coordinate benefit and insurance programs.

  • Identify, plan and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness of benefit programs.

  • Development of client specific management and financial programs. Review financial and management reports monthly.

  • Develop sales or cross-selling opportunities with current clients.

  • Manage financial profitability of account book.

  • Special projects as assigned which includes involvement in presentations, client functions and meetings.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5-8 years' experience managing large Health and Welfare clients. Brokerage or carrier experience preferred.

  • Must understand basic underwriting principles, the mechanics of self-funded health plans and PBM's.

  • IBNR calculation methodology is a plus.

  • Currently licensed in Life/Accident and Health Insurance.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to independently make accurate decisions and demonstrate good judgment.

  • College Degree required.

Location: Northern Indiana Position Description and Responsibilities: A Senior Associate Consultant based in Northern Indiana will lead existing projects in the Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan region, develop new opportunities and client relationships in the region, and establish a new office for permanent DRG staff in Northern Indiana. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with the Indiana Area Manager, based out of Indianapolis, to provide senior level project management, business development, and mentorship to junior staff. The position involves a variety of work including stream/wetland restoration design and construction oversight, Section 401/404 and/or Construction-in-a-Floodway permitting, technical report writing, and project management for a variety of projects such as wetlands and stream mitigation planning and monitoring, ecological surveys, and wetlands delineations. Job responsibilities include: ● Optimize existing client relationships and project experience to increase DRG's book of work in the Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan region. ● Pursue work in public and private markets, manage client relationships, provide leadership in preparing bids and proposals, and perform administrative duties, as needed. ● Routine management of multiple projects at one time, preparing/reviewing/implementing work and construction plans, invoicing and labor tracking, performing final QA/QC of work performed, and supervision of subcontractors as merited. ● Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and clients. Position will involve marketing tasks, such as attending conferences/workshops and public speaking. Required qualifications: A minimum of ten years of experience working in the natural resources field performing ecological consulting work and habitat restoration consulting is required. Valuable professional credentials include PWS, ESA Certified Ecologist, and/or CPESC. Candidate should have working experience in the state of Ohio or Indiana and be proficient with state laws and regulations. Potential candidates must be a college graduate with a minimum of a four-year degree in biology, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related fields; a master's degree is preferred. Successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency with stream/wetlands restoration design work, including modeling and plan development; have experience performing construction oversight of restoration projects; be capable of managing large projects with multiple subcontractors; have experience with both design/build and design/bid/build processes; and maintain an existing network of clients and contacts within the ecological consulting industry in the Midwest.
