Job summary

The Red Hat Total Rewards team is looking for a Senior Benefits Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will support strategy development and solutions implementation for the United States benefits programs. You'll need to have broad benefits experience and advanced knowledge of benefits administration and operations, as well as experience managing compliance activities for all benefit programs, including the 401(k) retirement savings plan and Affordable Care Act (ACA) plan.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead analyst for the U.S. healthcare and retirement plans

  • Create and provide an ongoing reporting for health and welfare and retirement programs to support benefits strategy development consistent with Red Hat's rewards philosophy and talent strategy, using direct market analyses and benchmarking to identify trends and perform cost analysis

  • Partner with internal communications team to develop effective and culturally aligned benefits communication across the benefit programs

  • Partner with the members of the extended team, including payroll, benefits operations, human resources information system (HRIS), and information technology (IT) associates for effective delivery of benefits

  • Process improvement initiatives related to the benefit programs

  • Collaborate with other associates and share your current knowledge of benefits-related legislation, including the ACA and health care reforms, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); make recommendations for required policy or practice changes

  • Manage relationships with the benefits broker team, third-party benefit plan providers, and other external vendors

  • Review and recommend changes to benefits documentation, including contracts, plan documents, and summaries

  • Collaborate and provide subject matter guidance to the People (HR) team associates and management on a variety of benefit matters

  • Ensure that operations and processes are efficient and scalable to support the growth of Red Hat

  • Produce and maintain documentation related to administrative benefit processes and policies

  • Work with Red Hat's HR Infrastructure team to determine, implement, and manage how programs are delivered to our associates

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the development and administration of benefits programs; experience as a benefits program manager or analyst in a large, shared services environment is a plus

  • Experience with large volume and diverse leaves programs

  • Solid analytical abilities specific to employee benefit program market positioning, cost drivers, and financial

  • Compliance and operations knowledge across all benefit programs, including an understanding of how payroll, IT, and HRIS teams collaborate to effectively administer programs

  • History of delivering results and operating as an internal consultant across all levels of management with the ability to build close relationships, gain agreement on decisions, and gain trust as an adviser

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Experience working in a rapidly growing and high-volume environment

  • Experience managing compliance activities related to all benefit programs described previously in the job summary and job responsibilities sections

  • Ability to manage time away from work and voluntary benefit programs is a plus

Job summary Red Hat's Benefits team is looking for a Benefits Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC to support our U.S. benefit programs. In this role, you will support a variety of U.S. benefit programs including healthcare, retirement, and wellness. You'll deliver on reporting and compliance requirements, complete benefit surveys, respond to escalated benefit inquiries and contribute ideas for process improvement and benefit enhancements as an active member of a high-performing team. As a Benefits Analyst, you'll need to have an excellent understanding of our benefit programs and be proactive with timelines and customer-focused. Primary job responsibilities * Partner with our benefits administrator to support the Affordable Care Act and other required compliance reporting prior to mandated deadlines * Complete annual health and welfare nondiscrimination testing and 5500 filings * Regularly audit calls to benefits administrator to ensure program success and resolve discrepancies on error reports * Participate in and support open enrollment planning and delivery * Create benefits administrator metrics to measure program success * Support payroll processes with our benefits administrator to ensure accurate benefit deductions * Assist with 401(k) nondiscrimination testing; calculate the annual true-up and facilitate the funding process to associates' accounts * Assist with annual 401(k) 5500 filing * Assist with the annual 401(k) audit * Support annual wellness fairs and other wellness activities throughout the year * Complete compliance filings as required * Assist with creating process documents * Support benefits communications and associate enablement * Submit benefit surveys * Maintain our benefit intranet pages, ensuring that they are up to date with benefit changes; partner with our Employment Branding and Communications (EB&C) team to ensure that pages are designed well to educate our associates on our benefit programs * Handle invoicing processes for all benefit programs to ensure timely payment to our vendors * Support benefit discount programs * Support leave administration Required skills * Bachelor's degree * 2+ years of benefits experience; nondiscrimination testing and 5500 filing experience is a plus * Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner * Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills * Ability to work closely with program managers to understand and accomplish program and regulatory requirements * Ability to work cross-functionally to obtain problem resolution * Consistent implementation on delivery in a fast-paced environment * Comfortable operating in an open environment where transparency and constant feedback are expected * Leave administration experience is a plus Red Hat is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.
