Job Summary

The Senior Benefits Administrator plays a critical role within the Total Rewards team. This position is responsible for the management, communication, and compliance of various benefit programs including Camden's retirement and stock purchase plans. Other responsibilities include performing various functions associated with Camden's employee health and welfare benefits and supplemental benefit programs to support our team members, their dependents, and Camden's overall mission. This position reports to the Benefits Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as employee contact for questions about plan eligibility, enrollment, and vesting, and other questions and concerns about benefits, policies, and procedures.

  • May act as a liaison with third-party administrators and/or transfer agents regarding transaction and claim discrepancies and/or other issues concerning employee inquiries.

  • Perform the day-to-day administration and ensure legal and regulatory compliance of various company benefit programs including the 401(k), Employee Share Purchase Plan, and Camden's Restricted Stock Unit program.

  • Process 401(k) administrative reports to ensure timely enrollment and oversee employment status changes, contribution deferrals, plan distributions, loans, and rollovers.

  • Perform periodic audits to ensure data integrity.

  • Complete biweekly funding of 401(k) employer and employee contributions and loans through the administrator's plan sponsor website.

  • Ensure timely distribution of Trial Balance Reports, Summary Annual Reports, and QDIA notices.

  • Coordinate and communicate bi-annual enrollment and purchase for the Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP).

  • Process ESPP purchase including reconciliation of reports and residual cash deposits.

  • Coordinate payroll deductions and provide accurate data in a timely manner to the Payroll Department.

  • Support Total Rewards team with administration of health and welfare benefit programs including disability, workers' compensation, and leaves of absence as well as Section 125 and health savings accounts.

  • Assist with annual plan audits and work with auditing teams as needed to ensure accuracy of plan data and compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls.

  • Assist with disability case management by engaging in the interactive process for employees who qualify for ADA accommodations and related regulations, company policies, and other guidelines.

  • Assist with online benefits enrollment and changes through the Oracle HCM Cloud Benefits module.

  • Monitor and input benefits data into Oracle HCM cloud-based system and other related benefits software applications.

  • Maintain eligibility electronic files for various benefit programs.

  • Escalate issues as necessary to the Benefits Manager.

  • Establish and maintain files and records pertaining to all respective programs and participants.

  • Update and maintain relevant benefits information on the Company's intranet site.

  • Assemble employee benefit materials and complete mass mailing as needed.

  • Participate in the implementation of new or revised benefit programs, assist in developing and arranging employee benefit presentations, and conduct employee meetings at Camden communities.

  • Prepare communications outlining and explaining benefit policies and procedures to a variety of audiences.

  • Perform quarterly user acceptance testing for Oracle's HCM Core HR module.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or combination of equivalent education and business experience required.

  • Minimum of three to five years of employee benefits administration experience within a corporate HR/benefits environment.

  • Must have a customer focused attitude and team player mentality.

  • Requires excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems, Oracle Cloud HCM is preferred.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.

  • Ability to be a self-starter and resolve issues with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet daily deadlines, and exercise good judgment.

  • Knowledgeable regarding health and welfare benefits and standard healthcare regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, ADAAA, COBRA, ACA, USERRA, etc.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.

  • Detail oriented and ability to work in a team setting.

  • Extremely strong customer service skills are required.

  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt and embrace change.

  • Supports Camden's strategic objectives and embraces the company culture and values.

  • Job is intermittently sedentary but requires mobility (i.e., climb stairs)

  • Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing

  • May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)

  • Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities

  • Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, SDS, general safety training, and wearing appropriate PPE
