Position Summary

Blucora is seeking a Senior Copywriter to join our in-house creative team. The Senior Copywriter is adept at writing persuasive and compelling stand-alone copy or copy to complement visual concepts created by a designer, across many platforms for both B2C and B2B customers. Additionally, the Senior Copywriter will work closely with the creative services leader along with cross-functional senior leaders and teams ensuring a consistent and cohesive voice and tone throughout the totality of the brand experience.

Being part of Blucora's in-house creative agency, you will help bring the TaxAct, Wealth Management and Blucora brands to life accentuating their unique point of difference in their corresponding categories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop original short and long-form copy for all marketing channels; thought leadership, digital, direct mail, landing pages, web, email, print, events, web, SEM, social, and more.

  • Grow a deep knowledge of the brand's category with deep empathy of the target audiences.

  • Understand meticulously the target audience's user journey to craft copy and experiences that is on brand speaking to their needs and pain points further accentuating the brand's positioning.

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of campaign objectives and devise strategies to achieve them.

  • Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content.

  • Use SEO practices to optimize content and increase visibility.

  • Manage multiple projects, with the ability to switch from one to the other seamlessly.

  • Interview clients, customers, industry experts and internal teams.

  • Develop and adhere to the tone and voice of the specific brand and campaign.

  • Attend one-on-one meetings with creative services manager, team meetings, and creative review sessions.

  • Work with the creative services manager to develop creative ideas and concepts.

  • Always ready to rise to any challenging brief with a keen eye for detail, and a drive to deliver the sharpest, most dazzling copy.

  • Liaise with Designers to enrich text with visual aids, like images and charts.

  • Other job duties as defined.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4-7 years of experience writing, editing, crafting and optimizing content across platforms.

  • Proven experience as a Senior Copywriter or similar role, 7+ years, in writing strong, succinct copy that is grammatically correct across multiple channels.

  • Portfolio of published articles.

  • Work experience in both B2B and B2C.

  • A strong record in creating immaculate copy that stands out from the crowd.

  • Strong research skills that ensure all copy is correct and accurate.

  • Ability to take qualitative and quantitative consumer insights data to write relevant and persuasive copy.

  • The ability to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising on work quality.

  • Great organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
