The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is looking for an experienced and energetic Senior Cloud Developer to become a part of our dynamic and customer-focused team, developing large, complex Treasury Retail Securities web applications in the cloud.
In this role, you will operate as a developer who is also a technical subject matter expert (SME), and can guide team members. Your primary focus will be on back-end, service layer development, but full-stack expertise is very desirable. Our teams use the latest technologies in AWS space, follow Agile methodology, and embrace a DevSecOps culture.
You will use your skills and experience to guide and support development in this space, to ensure the applications we develop are visually delightful to use, as well as highly safe & secure.
Support analysis, design, and development of solutions for complex application requirements. Support all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including post-implementation support and maintenance.
Apply skill and experience to develop solutions that meet industry and organizational standards, follow AWS standard patterns and best practices.
Lead by example, demonstrating high performance in the areas of customer satisfaction, collaboration, team work, and reliability.
Provide mentoring and technical oversight to a team of developers during the implementation phase, ensuring implementations match design specifications and adhere to established standards.
Participate in the establishment of local standards, patterns, and practices for technology design and delivery, while also providing input and influence to broader organizational standards and initiatives.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an Information Technology field, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
8 years of progressive information technology experience directly related to software design and development, to include 3 years of experience with AWS and cloud development, and 6 years of project experience using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management principles. (10 years required for level IV.) Experience in the Finance industry or experience developing solutions involving Financial products is a plus.
Highly proficient in cloud-native architecture and best practices: Well Architected Framework, 12 Factor App, AWS PaaS/FaaS services, Microservices architecture, Serverless architecture, Decoupled UI, and SPAs.
Highly proficient in designing, developing microservices and RESTful APIs, using technologies such as Java, SpringBoot, SpringCloud, Node.js, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, amongst others.
Highly proficient/hands-on experience in AWS and cloud-native services (ELB, Auto Scale Groups, SNS, SQS, Akamai, Nginx, CloudFront, etc.), cloud native logging/monitoring (ELK, Splunk, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.).
Well-versed in use of containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes), to run the applications.
Well-versed in OWASP Web/API vulnerabilities and compensating controls (CSRF, XSS, SQLI, etc.).
Demonstrated experience in mentorship and serving as technical SME for a development team.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Working knowledge of Continuous integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices using Maven, Jenkins/Bamboo, Automated tests, Automated code quality scans, and Automated Deployments (using Ansible).
Working knowledge in application logging, monitoring tools/process for the cloud ELK, Splunk, CloudWatch, amongst others.
Working knowledge in serverless architectures and hands-on knowledge with Lambda functions.
Familiarity with Agile software development practices & able to actively engage in sprint ceremonies such as, Refinement, Planning, Review, Retrospectives.
Familiarity with front-end technologies & frameworks such as Angular, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, amongst others.
Familiarity with coding practices to support web accessibility standards under Section 508 and WCAG 2.0.
