We are looking for a Senior AV Lead Technician Tier V located near our Burbank office who reports directly to the Installation Manager.

In this role, you will provide technical and installation support for custom audio, video and control system projects. It will be important for you to understand customer requirements and, as part of a project team, ensure that the delivered system fulfills the order expectations in a timely and cost-effective manner.

What you will be doing?

  • Demonstrate advanced control systems knowledge and commissioning skills (Control systems include: Crestron, AMX, Extron, Medialon, Alcorn McBride, etc.) control systems.

  • Write audio code DSP Files, adjust existing code, and produce quality improvements (DSP includes: QSC, BIAMP, Polycom Sound Structure, ClearOne, Shure, etc.).

  • Provide expert level training to client employees and stakeholders.

  • Lead teams of 5-25 technicians effectively in accordance ESI Standards.

  • Demonstrate a working advanced knowledge of construction processes.

  • Interface with different trades communicating critical task milestones necessary for ESI to be successful.

  • Expert level AV system trouble shooting.

  • Aide the Project Management team in the development of project plans and milestones.

  • Execute projects plans within the time constraints specified while adhering to quality standards.

  • Review, markup, and communicate issues with schematic diagrams and building drawings.

  • Display proficiency in the structured cabling of projects which includes: pulling, terminating and testing all cable and wiring associated with audio/video cables.

  • Adhere to and follow CAD elevations and system schematics.

  • Competently document daily project status reports and deliver/communicate status reports to project management on a daily basis or in a frequency agreed upon by the project team.

  • Complete system cabling & terminations are in accordance with system diagrams & AVIXA standards.

  • Provide any other support to ensure ESI operates up to standards on a daily basis.

  • Follows and maintains proper safety practices in accordance with OSHA, Site safety requirements, and/or ESI Standards.

What Experience, Skills and Attributes you will need to be successful?

  • Proficient in all installation best practices in accordance with both AVIXA & ESI standards.

  • Basic understanding of networking & networking terminology.

  • Ability to analyze customer situations, make decisions and solve problems under pressure.

  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and detail.

  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients and vendors.

  • Ability to communicate effectively face-to-face, in groups, via telephone and written communication.

  • Proficient with computers and standard office programs (e.g. Windows, Excel, Word).

  • Ability to safely and regularly lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift 75 pounds.

What qualifications are required?

  • OHSA 30 Hour Online Construction Course

  • AVIXA CTS-I certification or ability to possess within 90 days of hire

  • 5+ years of AV industry experience

  • Master level certification in 2 of the programming languages actively used in ESI work

  • Ability to travel up to 75%+

  • Project experience range: $1m - $25m

THE WORK YOU WILL DO The Senior AV Support Engineer works closely with both front-line support teams and the AVIT solution architects to provide a reliable and best-in-class experience for customers in USC's general-use learning spaces. The Senior AV Support Engineer supports innovation in AV systems by integrating, programming, testing, documenting, and deploying optimized solutions in line with the defined AVIT architecture and strategy. The Senior AV Support Engineer reviews system data and customer feedback to direct operational support and provide recommendations for improvement. As part of ITS, the Senior AV Support Engineer demonstrates ITS values in action. Provides recommendations for incorporating stakeholder needs and feedback into AV systems. * Analyzes usage data to continuously improve the customer experience with AV and video teleconference (VTC) technology solutions. Maintains currency on AV and VTC solutions, installation and integration skills, and industry trends. Possesses a deeply technical understanding of AV solution technology. Stays apprised on innovative trends and identifies opportunities to implement technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), voice recognition, lecture capture, and advanced conferencing capabilities. * Provides best-in-class teaching and learning technologies by delivering and supporting complex, integrated AV and VTC systems across campus. Ensures the proper integration and functioning of all sound, projection, and collaboration capabilities in the general-use classrooms, auditoria, and workspaces.
