Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. seeks a Senior Automation Testing and Commissioning Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, to define and perform assigned Traffic Management tests (e.g. IXL ATS. on-board) for an overall T&C plan for a medium complexity (in terms of equipment and/or subsystems and/or interfaces) Automation project.

Accountabilities

• Specific duties include:

(i) ensuring the delivery of the software application configurations for complex and medium signaling project schemes including documentation and producation check of configuration documents;

(ii) determining the test objectives/strategies for the project software configuration deliverables and authoring the test plans based upon the department standards and project needs;

(iii) ensuring requirements, designing, and testing according to allocated project requirements and applicable standards;

(iv) ensuring the input data, the configuration documents and executable files are issued and controlled in accordance with company processes;

(v) creating test plans, protocols, procedures, and cases for software configuration releases and assuring all test documentation is complete prior to the start of the test cycle;

(vi) executing tests according to defined test plans and test procedures;

(vii) ensuring that the project drawings and configuration data are in sync with the project input documentation;

(viii) identifying and logging product defects in the defect tracking tool;

(ix) leading reviews on configuration activities (survey, input data, data preparation, production of the parameters) to detect inefficiencies in the process and in the tools and put in place improvement actions;

(x) defining, executing and troubleshooting the lab, factory and integration lab tests before handover of the executable files of the configured sub-systems;

(xi) guaranteeing the configuration analysis, explaining and correcting defects, troubleshooting feedback from V&V and site tests, and assisting with the classification, management and resolution of all software defects;

(xii) following established quality assurance processes and standards for the formal delivery of all software configuration work artifacts;

(xiii) facilitating the

(xiv) allocating resources based upon skills and capabilities, Identifying skill gaps and providing guidance to junior resources;

(xv) assisting the functional manager in the establishment/modification of department processes.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

• Must have 7 years of experience with verification and validation of safety critical applications with special emphasis to software V&V processes.

• Must also have experience:

(i) using Siemens Team Center PLM tool and IBM Rational ClearCase, IBM Rational Team Concert to manage software documentation and testing documentation lifecycle;

(ii) using Requirement Traceability Matrix and IBM Rational DOORS to manage the System Requirements lifecycle and guarantee requirements coverage and mapping to test cases;

(iii) using collaborative quality and test management tool IBM Rational Quality Manager to perform QC/QA activities and V&V and to manage testing related activities (planning, execution and reporting) and track defects/changes; and

(iv) ensuring that test equipment and test environment are defined, constructed, verified and available prior to testing whether on physical hardware or virtual based architecture.

• Must have knowledge of Linux or UNIX operating system (basic Linux commands, Shell and Python scripting, file navigation, manipulation, file transfer and permissions) and basic networking concepts (serial, TCP/IP, Modbus Protocol Interfaces and Network Data analyzer).

Education/Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology

• Must have 7 years of experience in a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Software Test Lead or Software Test Engineer position.
