The University of Virginia is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to conduct risk and controls assurance and advisory projects and other internal process improvement work, as assigned. Objectives for these projects may address operations, compliance, and reporting (financial and non-financial) goals of the University.
The Audit Department's mission is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advising, and insight. The internal audit program is coordinated with the Auditor of Public Accounts and the Office of the State Inspector General, and must comply with the Institute of Internal Auditors' (IIA) standards for the professional practice of internal auditing.
The successful candidate will have experience executing assigned projects, as in-charge or contributing team member, in accordance with professional standards and departmental procedures. Experience with all phases of an audit (planning, fieldwork, and reporting) and guiding the work of others, including initial review of workpapers assigned to team members. Experience in identifying and evaluating internal controls and risks for business processes, and proposing relevant fieldwork test steps and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a track record that includes a minimum two years of progressively responsible professional experience as an auditor. A bachelor's degree is required as is a CPA. At least two years of experience after passing the CPA exam is highly preferred.
