The Senior Financial Aid Auditor role is responsible for executing risk-based assurance and consulting services to evaluate and enhance the Company's system of internal controls primarily relating to student financial aid administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement audit plans, programs, and procedures to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance of financial aid processes. Conduct thorough audits of financial aid records, transactions, and documentation

  • Execute assurance and consulting engagements based upon the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors

  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, observations, and recommendations for management and relevant stakeholders. Communicate audit results, recommendations, and compliance requirements effectively to key stakeholders

  • Provide leading practice guidance to internal business partners

  • Proactively prepare and execute personal professional development plan and mentor staff auditors

  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required

  • Advanced degree or professional certification preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in financial aid auditing or quality assurance, preferably within for-profit higher education or a related industry

  • In-depth knowledge of federal financial aid regulations

  • Title IV, VA, HEA, FERPA, and other applicable laws and regulations

  • Broad knowledge of auditing and control methodologies and techniques

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make sound recommendations

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences

  • Proficient with word-processing (MS Word) and analysis (MS Excel) software

  • Proficient with student information systems and learning management systems (for example Anthology Student, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)

  • Competent in organizing, planning and prioritizing workload

  • Consistent in maintaining confidentiality and professional decorum

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships

Work Environment

  • Pay Range $75,000-95,000/yr (depending on experience)

  • Travel up to 5% overnight

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.

  • Remote worksites are available; Employees must meet minimum technical standards for eligibility and participation.
