Under limited SupervisionPerforms varied and complex financial, operational and compliance audits for Eagle Bancorp, Inc. and subsidiaries. Actively promotes a strong internal control environment in assurance and consultative services provided in conjunction with and formally documented in the Internal Audit Manual (derived from the Standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors {IIA}).


  • May act as Auditor In Charge (AIC) to independently conduct varied and complex internal audits of Eagle Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiaries in accordance with the audit plan and consistent with audit objectives and the strategic initiatives of the company and IIA standards.

  • Keeps current on matters relating to internal controls, regulations, accounting and banking industry, in general. Interpret, apply and communicate changes including complex matters.

  • Promotes a strong internal control environment and be viewed as a leader.

  • Assists in testing for the Sarbanes Oxley Program.

  • Executes internal audits effectively and efficiently in accordance with the approved audit plan and under the direction of the AIC to achieve audit objectives.

  • Documents audit work clearly and concisely to support conclusions.

  • Complies with the Internal Audit Department Charter, procedures and professional standards. Suggests and develops new ideas and work methods.

  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and leadership when working with employees and other individuals required to interact with as a part of their assigned duties.

  • Complies with the EagleBank Pledge regarding reliability, responsiveness, appreciation, competency and ethics.

  • Communicates orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Forms objective opinions on the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and identifies core issues.

  • Provides meaningful recommendations based on evaluated risks and follow-up on the resolution of issues.

  • Develops and maintains audit and proficient technical competencies needed to complete audit assignments encompassing all complex systems and software.

Required SkillsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Required Education/Experience:Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business management, finance or related field; 4 additional years of audit experience will be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree3 years of internal audit experience in public accounting, audit, risk management or regulatory compliance

Required Certifications, Licenses or systems needed: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)

Required ExperienceKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREDRequired Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to fully document workpapers to have sufficient evidence to support conclusions

Ability to interact with management to communicate audit scope, objectives, and findings. Communicates orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.Forms objective opinions on the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and identifies core issues. Knowledge of audit methodologies and developing key internal audit deliverables including process flows and narratives, work programs, audit reports, and control summaries

Proficient in MS Office products, specifically Word and ExcelSkills to perform detailed research, to assess large amounts of data and to derive key aspects

Ability to make sound analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Responsibilites * Perform financial statement audits and reviews * Serve as the principal point of contact on client engagements and develop working relationships with senior level management and business owners * Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve audit-related problems, and collaborate with managers and partners to make recommendations for business and process improvements * Takes responsibility, executes and follows through on timely completion of engagement deliverables from planning to completion * Supervise and mentor junior staff members on engagements and review workpapers * Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagements * Utilize technical proficiency to enable diagnoses of and solutions to problems encountered on audits and reviews * Assist partners and senior management on proposals and business development calls * Develop industry knowledge by attending industry association meetings, trainings and networking events Requirements * B.S./M.S. degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate * Minimum experience of two to four years within a public accounting firm * Experience providing assurance and audit services to Technology clients is preferred * Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, CaseWare) * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and customers Seasonal Commitment * Client work will begin on 1/19 and last thru 3/20 (possibly 3/27) * Normal work schedule will be 40 hours/week, with the possible need to increase to 45 should client needs demand it.
