Job Description

In this position, you will perform legal research, analysis and writing to support the development and maintenance of The Rutter Group's premier legal content as reflected in its Practice Guides.

Editorial Responsibilities:

Perform rigorous review and editing of legal content created by authors; draft original content as necessary

Ensure that content conforms to The Rutter Group's brand of excellence, including adherence to The Rutter Group's writing style and organization (i.e., clear, concise, complete, accurate and properly indexed content, optimally presented for print and online versions)

Establish, build and maintain productive working relationships with outside authors

Actively monitor legal developments through daily review of new case law, new and amended legislation and pertinent legal articles, as well as participation in continuing legal education activities

Work under demanding deadlines and established publishing schedules

Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the legal market environment, including customers and competitors

Qualifications

J.D. degree

Admission to the California Bar

Experience practicing law in California; 6+ years preferred

Superior legal research, writing and analytical skills

Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail

Ability to interpret, analyze, organize and communicate complex legal material in simple, concise language

Ability to quickly read, assimilate and become familiar with new fields of law so that you can write about them as well as recognize and correct inaccurate, misleading, erroneous and incomplete statements of law written by others

Excellent grammar and punctuation skills

Ability to prioritize tasks/projects

Ability to work successfully in a collaborative or team environment

Solid computer skills

Knowledge and competence in using Westlaw online legal research platform

About the Role

In this opportunity as Senior Attorney Editor, you will:

About You

You're a fit for the role of Senior Attorney Editor if your background includes:

J.D. degree and admission to the California Bar

Experience practicing law in California; 6+ years preferred

Superior legal research, writing and analytical skills

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following states:

CA, CO, CT, IL, NV, TX, WA and/or remote. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $74,200 - $137,800. The base compensation range in other locations may vary.

This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
