Responsible for implementation of platform and waveform application GPP software for next generation multi-channel radio products, in conjunction with hardware product development
Requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer engineering, software engineering, and mathematical analysis to daily tasking
Consults with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software/firmware, and operational performance requirements of the overall system
Conducts software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation
Design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment
Execution of software development process in a CMMI Level 3 environment
Perform coding and unit test of resultant software/firmware
Perform software/firmware component integration
Participation in peer reviews
Identifying, tracking and repairing defects
Bachelor's Degree BSEE, BSCS, BSCE, BSSE required with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience including the following
Proficiency Object-Oriented Design (OOD)
Experience with software emulators/debuggers
Experience with flash file systems, XML, networking protocols and/or Ethernet switching
This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
A firmware development background and troubleshooting skills is highly preferred
Experience with multi-threaded design and/or embedded real-time operating systems is highly preferred
Experience with wireless communications systems is highly preferred
Knowledge of C/C++, IP Networking, and Wireless Networking desirable
Strong proficiency with C/C++, object-oriented design
Familiarity with real-time operating systems, such as QNX or Linux
Experience with design and implementation of time-critical software applications
Ability to analyze and modify existing software to add new capabilities.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment; good interpersonal and communication skills
Creativity in problem solving
Understands basic principles and technical concepts; position provides opportunities to apply theory to practice
