Senior Associate, Scrum Master

In the Senior Scrum Master role, you'll serve as the servant leader for your team(s) by ensuring clear communication and helping the team reach its goal. The Scrum Master will drive the appropriate Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban/etc.) focused on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the team. The Scrum Master will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes on the team.

General Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Scrum Master for one or more teams

  • Ensures team maintains focus on quality and continuous delivery of business value

  • Helps team pro-actively identify impediments and recommends solutions to remove impediments

  • Represents team in daily or Scrum of Scrums (S2) meeting and clearly communicates team accomplishments, impediments, and downstream impacts.

  • Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization

  • Demonstrates ability to balance data with other factors when making decisions

  • Understands domain architecture and upstream/downstream dependencies

  • Utilizes team feedback and analyzes data (quality, delivery rate, etc) to identify areas of opportunity and improve team efficiency and delivery

  • Actively seeks and participates in a variety of learning opportunities such as Communities of Practice, conferences, classroom training and independent study to further develop self and community

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 1 Year of working within an Agile environment and applying Agile principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scrum Alliance CSM or PMI's Agile Certified Professional
  • PMP, Lean, Agile, Six Sigma certification
  • SAFe certified or experience (or other scales Agile frameworks)
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Scrum Master to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM)Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. Roles and Responsibilities: * Serve as a servant leader for the assigned Agile software development teams and empower the team to self-organize and become high performing teams * Bring prior background in supporting Agile software development, specifically helping teams in writing clear user stories with acceptance criteria * Utilize prior experience using Agile management tools that support agile development, especially Scaled Agile (SAFe), such as JIRA, IBM RTC/CLM etc., to continuously improve and streamline the day-to-day activities * Work with the Agile teams and Solution Architecture Team to ensure the overall software engineering and architecture approach and guidelines are communicated in timely manner * Organize and facilitate SAFe ceremonies such as sprint/iteration planning, reviews, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, backlog refinements, and other ceremonies as they apply to the team and/or train * Track and communicate Agile metrics which may include but not limited to velocity and sprint/Program Increment (PI) progress within the SAFe framework * Support and communicate the Agile methodology and SAFe framework used by the program * Fulfill the role of the Scrum Master by leading Agile development teams in the delivery of business critical, enterprise software development projects * Ensure the Scrum Framework is implemented effectively by provide coaching and mentoring at the team level to maximize its benefits * Assist with making appropriate commitments to deliver business value through story selection, definition of tasks, and estimation TSCSM Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: * Bachelor's degree in a related field and 9 years' experience * Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Scrum Master on a Scrum team * Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies successfully in the past as a Scrum Master * Previous experience with gathering metrics from Agile tools such as JIRA, CA Rally, CLM, etc * Experience with Agile development tools such as JIRA, CA Rally, TFS, and/or CLM * Experience in decomposing Agile features to user stories with clear acceptance criteria * Experience working in a SAFe Agile or Agile software development environment * Must have experience in communicating with all levels of executives * Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks. * Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite 2016, Adobe Acrobat DC, and SharePoint. * Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. * Active Secret (or higher) clearance.
