Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Senior Associate Scientist, Neuropharmacology in the Lead Evaluation and Cellular Pharmacology team located in San Diego, CA.

Lead Evaluation and Cellular Pharmacology (LECP) plays an important role in the Therapeutics Discovery organization, where scientific expertise in screening, pharmacology, and chemistry is harnessed to develop groundbreaking new medicines in the areas of Neuroscience, Immunology, and Oncology.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist with extensive experience in receptor pharmacology to join the LECP team in La Jolla. In this position, the Scientist will spend the bulk of their time in the lab, setting up and running assays, in addition to analyzing and reporting data. Qualified candidates should be motivated to generate and share results, enjoy working closely with other colleagues across functional teams, and comfortable balancing their efforts between multiple research programs. In addition to scientific rigor, the job duties of the Scientist will depend upon a comprehensive understanding of high-throughput screening and assay development. It is crucial that they display enthusiasm to develop proficiency in any tasks where their prior experience is limited.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use automated electrophysiology, FLIPR, and other technical platforms to run weekly membrane receptor assays in support of medicinal chemistry efforts

  • Participate in the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of new assays

  • Conduct medium to high-throughput screening for neurological disease targets

  • Analyze experimental data rapidly, while ensuring the quality and consistency of reported datasets

  • Derive key findings from the interpretation of assay results, and communicate those to the larger project team at meetings

  • Prepare graphical illustrations of results in a form accessible to biology and chemistry partners
