KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our Mergers & Acquisitions practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services including planning, research, and other mergers and acquisitions activities

  • Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, and communicates findings and opportunities to clients

  • Assist clients with current issues which may include bankruptcy emergence planning, out of court workouts, debt restructurings, tax basis, earning and profits, and section 382 studies

  • Liaise with a target company's finance/accounting departments and tax advisors to gather pertinent facts for an analysis of tax risks

  • Develop, motivate, and train staff-level team members

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in federal tax and/or mergers and acquisition in a public accounting firm, corporate tax department, or law firm

  • Bachelor's degree, J.D., LL.M. in taxation, and/or Masters in Taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university

  • Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters in various industries

  • Ability to handle multiple engagements and client service teams

  • Excellent research and writing skills

The TRA Senior Associate works closely with staff on all phases of projectand engagement management for multiple clients. The Tax Senior Associate isprimarily responsible for reviewing income and non-income based taxes,statutory income compliance and consulting, transactional taxes, transferpricing documentation and evaluation, reviewing the tax flow and taxfunctioning of our client's operations, assisting in the evaluation andimplementation of tax software and technology to increase efficiency as well asa variety of other job tasks depending on the engagement. Essential Duties andResponsibilities: * Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget. * Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed. * Review tax returns done by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process. * Prepare tax returns for more complex income tax clients. * Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters. * Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. * Other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting. * CPA preferred. * Two to four years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience; experience in public accounting is a plus.
