Senior Associate Editor

Role Summary:

The Senior Associate Editor for the Bankruptcy Team is responsible for working with the senior editors on the Bankruptcy Team to develop high quality summaries of agreements and Bankruptcy Court pleadings, case trackers, and current trends information in specific areas of bankruptcy practice. The Senior Associate Editor may liaise with internal stakeholders including product management, sales, marketing, IT and operations in connection with their duties supporting the Bankruptcy Team.

About the role:

In this opportunity as Senior Associate Editor, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining What's Market Summary Databases by populating them with new summaries covering:

  • DIP Financing Agreements

  • 363 Sale Motion Pleadings

  • Maintaining and updating What's Market Trends materials covering the following topics:

  • KEIPS and KERPS

  • Key Terms in Restructuring Support Agreements

  • Services and Compensation for Non-Legal Advisors

  • DIP Financing Terms

  • Deal Protections and Bidding Procedures in Section 363 Sales

  • Post-Confirmation Trusts

  • Maintaining Bankruptcy Case Trackers: Regularly maintaining the following trackers, which follow bankruptcy cases in different industries:

  • Chapter 15 Case Tracker

  • Active Retail Case Tracker

  • Cryptocurrency Case Tracker

  • Energy Industry Tracker

  • Fraud Tracker

  • Healthcare Industry Tracker

  • Mass Tort Tracker

  • Media and Telecommunications Industry Tracker

  • Transportation Industry Tracker

In maintaining these trackers, the Senior Associate Editor researches the cases to be included in the trackers and, for each case, summarizes the business, the cause of financial problems, and the purpose of the bankruptcy filing (including links to relevant pleadings).

  • Updating Chapter 15 Guides: The Senior Associate Editor updates and maintains Guides to Chapter 15 Recognition of foreign restructuring and insolvency proceeding from various countries.

  • Monitoring DOJ Activity in Bankruptcy Cases. The Senior Associate Editor maintains a resource regarding federal agencies that intervene in bankruptcy cases (besides the US Trustee's Office).

About You:

You're a fit for the role of Senior Associate Editor, if your background includes:

  • A J.D. and current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant professional experience practicing as an attorney in the US concentrating on bankruptcy, restructuring or insolvency matters in a law firm and/or corporate law department

  • Strong knowledge of the legal industry preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Problem solving and analytical thinking skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)

  • Understanding of legal terminology and concepts
