The Senior Associate Director of Recruitment, Brooklyn is responsible for recruitment and selection of all teachers, school-based operations, and non-instructional staff for Uncommon Schools' largest region. This role directly manages a team of three Selection Recruiters and works closely with Brooklyn's Outreach Recruiter and the region's Assistant Superintendents and Associate Chief Operating Officers to ensure that all of our schools are fully staffed with high quality talent.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cares deeply about and can articulate a detailed understanding of Uncommon Schools

  • Builds strong processes for the Brooklyn Recruitment Team to assess all candidates from application review to hire, keeping in mind both candidate and leader experience.

  • Develops positive relationships with Uncommon Schools' Instructional and Operational Leaders.

  • Builds a strong team culture: Holds their team accountable to high performance expectations, ensures the growth and development of all direct reports, and maintains a caring and inclusive team culture.

  • Ensures accurate data in all of our recruitment systems; analyzes data to identify and address trends in real time; and makes changes to selection or outreach strategies as needed.

  • Manages external relationships with key recruitment partners and teacher placement agencies

  • Contributes to the culture, strategies, processes, and systems of all Uncommon Schools Recruiters as a member of the Recruitment Leadership Team.

  • Experience working in Recruitment within a high-performing organization and competitive talent market

  • Passionate dedication to the mission of Uncommon Schools, and drive to build a high quality, diverse workforce at Uncommon to better serve our students, families, and communities

  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through; a high sense of urgency

  • Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills particularly when communicating with senior leaders

  • Strong people management skills with a track record of developing others

  • Ability to develop systems that achieve efficiency and scalability

  • Ability to learn quickly and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic, ambitious environment

  • Bachelor's degree required

The Associate Director of Recruitment (Outreach) is a position that executes balanced outreach strategies to source teachers and operations staff for 24, K-12 Schools in Brooklyn, New York. The Recruiter will work closely with the Senior Associate Director of Recruitment to develop and implement national and regional recruitment strategies that staff our schools with diverse, high-quality talent. Duties and Responsibilities * Demonstrate and articulate a detailed understanding of the Uncommon Schools mission * Build and execute specific and targeted strategies to attract quality teachers and operations staff * Collaborate with partners to plan and implement on-campus recruitment events and initiatives (career fairs, information sessions, panels, professional learning, etc.) * Strengthen regional and national relationships to increase awareness of Uncommon Schools' brand * Use recruitment tools (applicant tracking systems, resume databases, LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Handshake, Mailchimp, and spreadsheets) to source high-quality talent * Write creative and compelling communications to promote career opportunities to target audiences and move partners to action (professors, faculty, AmeriCorps staff, mission-aligned organizations, etc.) * Assess data to adjust outreach strategies, support recommendations, and drive outreach decisions * Strengthen communication and relationships with school leaders and Selection recruiters to assess short and long-term talent needs and trends * Travel 30% to local and national events to engage with high-quality candidates * Performs other related duties as needed * Must be committed to our mission to prepare students for success in college and beyond * Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate goals, strategies, projects, and initiatives * Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and responsibilities * Proven ability to take multiple perspectives to solve challenges in real-time * Ability to utilize data to inform practices and build short-term and long-term goals * Ability to collect and apply input from managers or team members to achieve strong results * Ability to self-reflect and self-assess workstreams * Excellent oral and written communication skills Uncommon Schools offer salaries commensurate with experience and generous benefits and vacation package.
