The UVA Darden School of Business seeks a Senior Associate Director of Web Development and Technical Systems. Working out of Darden's Communication & Marketing Hub of Excellence, the role will manage Darden's website ecosystem, liaising with Darden's Website Manager and Strategic IT department.

We seek creative and agile thinking to architect, optimize and secure our diverse digital ecosystem. To ensure success, the incumbent must display an excellent understanding of content management systems (CMS) and technology infrastructures using CSS, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy, and Security Audits. Top candidates will be comfortable troubleshooting the website and constantly improving its User Experience (UX).

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the functionality of the organization's websites and ensure their performance and stability. Websites are built on Drupal and WordPress and teams use Pardot, Marketing Cloud and stand-alone servers. Plan, implement, manage, monitor and upgrade.

  • Respond to, troubleshoot and resolve website issues as they arise.

  • Ensure the websites are protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.

  • Update HTML, CSS and JavaScript regularly.

  • Collaborate with the web design and content teams to ensure seamless web operations.

  • Manage user access and content administration within diverse CMS platforms.

  • Implement and monitor website security measures, including firewalls, host intrusion prevention systems and secure coding practices. Knowledge of Cloudflare appreciated. Ensure the security of domain names and SSL certificates and update and improve them.

  • Conduct regular website audits to ensure performance optimization. Transform tools (such as Site Improve, Elastic Site Search, and TrustArc) into potent instruments for optimized performance.

  • Create strategies to grow web traffic metrics and subscriber base.

  • Realize SEO potential: Implement updated technical improvements across our digital landscape to ensure we reach our SEO potential.

  • Coordinate with IT department on network issues, software updates and other technical issues.

  • Stay current with emerging web technologies and recommend their implementation as appropriate.

  • Innovate. Unleash your tech-savvy and creativity to propose and implement solutions that will elevate Darden's web presence to new heights.

Education and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or related field with at least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years of proven experience managing and administering complex websites; experience with Drupal and/or Wordpress appreciated.

  • Strong knowledge of web analytics and SEO and Pay Per Click.

  • Extensive expertise in user and content management systems (CMS)

  • Domain name and SSL certificate management experience

  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Firewalls, mySQL and other web services and program applications.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, and fantastic content creation and writing skills.

  • Solid experience with website optimization tools like Site Improve and Elastic Site Search.

  • A strategic mind with a track record of driving innovative technological solutions.
