Assists in the championing, development, and implementation of property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand's target customer and property employees. Provides financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment. In addition, assists in the creation and execution of a business plan that is aligned with the property and brand's business strategy and focuses on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of desirable financial results.


Education and Experience

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; 1 years experience in the finance and accounting or related professional area.

Assisting in Strategic Planning and Decision Making

  • Develops means to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit, exploring new business opportunities, etc.

  • Analyzes information, forecasts sales against expenses and creates annual budget plans.

  • Compiles information, analyzes and monitors actual sales against projected sales.

  • Analyzes differences between actual budget wages and forecasted wages for more efficient budget planning.

  • Assists in identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.

The financial analyst is responsible for reconciling the general ledger and payroll expense reports on a monthly basis, analyzing expenditures and spending patterns to prepare for future spending, preparing monthly financial reports with detailed financial projections to PIs and the Business Officer as needed. <br><br> Prepares and processes TOE's, TOF's and Financial Journals. Works with Finance Manager to set budgetary appropriations for all accounts. Develops procedures within policy for the performance of financial analysis duties, attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area where the final results are reviewed. <br><br> Responsible for independently analyzing, monitoring and tracking all fiscal transactions in multiple programs for the Bren School. Remains updated and knowledgeable of changing UC policy and procedures and adjusts internal activity accordingly. Responsible for communicating upcoming UCSB and internal policy changes to the Bren community. <br><br> Develops and recommends guidelines for operational issues associated with financial processes. Interacts with departmental managers, unit supervisors and technical staff to obtain relevant fiscal information; verifies posted transactions are accurately reflected on the G/L. <br><br> Reconciles the G/L to GUS, and reports inconsistencies or audit issues to the Finance Manager; follows campus policies and procedures regarding audit standards; reports non-compliance issues to Finance Managers and implements corrective action. Provides financial input and offers fiscal information.</p><p>Assists with fiscal close, new fiscal year set up, budget projections, and reports. Assists with monitoring, reconciling, and reporting divisional financial commitments. <br><br> Prepares fiscal expense reports for state, donor, senior management staff, the dean, and outside agencies and foundations; develops complex income and expense spreadsheets and utilizes campus database and campus general ledger to incorporate various revenue and expense projections and planning scenarios as part of these proposals. Monitors and tracks the school's expenditures ensuring that designated funds are fully and appropriately spent in accordance with university requirements. Reconciles transactions to the General Ledger on a monthly basis for all programs; processes transfer of expense, ensures appropriate accounts are charged and resolves problems; coordinates accounting activities for fiscal close. <br><br> Ensures compliance and auditability for all financial transactions. Coordinates the implementation of agreements with service departments. Coordinates the analysis of information and makes recommendations where appropriate on special projects. <br><br> Serves as a Flex Card Allocator, ensuring that proper approvals are in place and that expenditures are allocated to the correct accounts and are allowable. Prepares paperwork for monthly Flex Card audits performed by Purchasing. Designates appropriate fund source for expenditures and payments of campus commitments.
