Responsibilities

As the Senior Architectural Designer responsible for development & production of Architectural project drawings & specifications for assigned Campus minor projects. Includes implementing all phases of architectural project(s), including Design, Construction Documents, Permitting, Bidding, and Construction Administration. Efficiently plans and organizes their own workload while mentoring junior staff.

  • Prepares and/ or reviews schematic, progress, and final construction documents & specifications in coordination with multi-discipline project team under review & approval of the Architect Supervisor. Performs bid phase and construction phases tasks including site visits, review of shop drawings, responding to requests for information, and issuing clarifications.

  • Carries out the overall architectural design of projects, utilizing the project design team. Coordinates project requirements and development of construction documents with sub-consultants.

  • Develops building programs as needed to define the scope of related projects. Prepares preliminary design studies and coordinates preparation of related probable cost statements and detailed cost estimates for review.

  • Field verifies existing physical conditions at related project sites. Inspects and issues inspection reports of progress and completed construction work. Meets the design schedule and design construction budget.

  • Works directly with office leadership to ensure best practices used and comprehensive design goals are met. Coordinates with and responsible for communicating with other design team disciplines and the client.

  • Researches and reviews applicable building, life safety and accessibility code requirements; and assess client-provided program requirements to incorporate accessibility compliant solutions into the design documents. Prepares and provides project specific summary analysis reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.

  • Ability to interpret technical and artistic designs and create a final design product.

  • Knowledge of professional design in construction management.

  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology in designing, estimating, planning, and inspecting construction projects and managing project schedules.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.

  • Ability to utilize problem solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.

  • Ability to meet project deadlines.

  • Ability to interpret architectural/construction drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • A valid State of Florida Class E, Georgia driver's license, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in Higher Education.

  • Extensive experience using Autodesk REVIT & Adobe Suite.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Anticipated Salary Range
