Senior Architect (Part-Time)

The Office of the University Building Official (OUBO) is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for the position of Senior Architect. Senior Architects in OUBO review plans and specifications and inspects construction work for the diverse portfolio of buildings at UVA's Central Grounds, Health System, College at Wise, and Blandy Experimental Farm. This 30-hour per week role comes with benefits and is eligible for a hybrid-work schedule.

Responsibilities Include:

• Participate in design and review meetings with architects, engineers, and project managers to resolve design problems, provide value management, and participate in final acceptance inspections.

• Perform reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes, guidelines, and established budgets.

• Assist and interact with project and design personnel in the performance of all phases of architectural design and construction.

• Coordinate projects with the University Architect with campus planning and Geospatial database.

• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in architecture

• Experience: Seven years of experience

• Licensure: Professional Architect Registration

• Required Certification: ability to obtain DHCD Commercial Plans Examiner within 18 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Master's degree in architecture

• Experience: Ten years of experience

• Certification: DHCD Commercial Plans Examiner

Anticipated hiring range : $ 85,000 - $95,000 annually (for 30 hours per week); this is an exempt-level part-time benefitted position.
