NV5 is seeking a Senior Architect who will work in our New York City office to advance and manage architectural design projects for public agencies and private clients. NV5 is an AE firm where architects work in a multi-disciplined environment to design public facilities for agencies such as the NYC School Construction Authority, NYC Department of Design and Construction, as well as universities and others. We offer a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to design iconic public facilities that directly improve the lives of New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs.

Responsibilities

The Senior Architect will be responsible for all phases of architectural project development, including construction field representation. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated creative problem solver with strong organization, and communication skills both written and graphic. The Senior Architect will have the ability to work independently and in a team environment to advance and complete projects.

  • Must be able to manage projects of varied type and scale independently, and have a demonstrated ability to develop, detail, and coordinate projects from programming through construction documents including preparing technical specifications.

  • Construction field support and representation.

  • Building code analysis and reviews to determine conformance to current codes and standards.

  • Responsible to coordinate with outside consultants

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:

  • Graduate architect with 10-15 years of experience.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Knowledge of Revit a plus, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Registered Architect NY; LEED AP professional a plus

Is this you? * Hands-on with best of breed technologies (cloud, high throughput event processing, data analytics, etc.) * Highly motivated self-starter who is passionate about software and technology * Strong communicator with ability to tailor message to audiences * Collaborates with stakeholders, including business, product, and UX team members to influence the application data-flow design and extensible product platform architecture. * Experienced with various types of software architectures including Microservice architecture * Takes a disciplined approach to software development and problem solving * Passionate about technology with a high technical aptitude * Works in an Agile SDLC * Participates in high-level estimation BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired: * 10+ years of recent and related experience with design and development of complex systems; including requirements analysis, estimation, implementation and testing * Defining architecture roadmaps and realizing their vision * Architecting analytic platforms to enable the implementation of business rules, pattern recognition, machine learning and/or deep learning * Modern technologies experience including: Java, Scala, Python, Big Data (Hadoop, Spark), Messaging (i.e. AWS, SNS/SQS, Kafka, Rabbit MQ), and other cloud services * Designing RESTful APIs that map the user experience into back-end functionality * Knowledge with CI/CD * SAFe Software Development Principles a plus * A proven track record of working as part of a team on large architectural projects * Excellent verbal and written communications Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
