The Senior Architect designs solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements, consistent with long-term strategies, to ensure future flexibility for evolving business requirements. Individuals in this role provide leadership and guidance on solution options and trade-offs, to business partners and development teams. The Senior Architect for Database Infrastructure is specifically responsible for designing reusable database platform solutions and patterns, both on premise and in the cloud, for use across the enterprise.
The Senior Architect is responsible for conceptualizing and designing detailed solutions, enabling the organization to meet business objectives. The focus of this role will be defining database capabilities for use across the organization.
Provides technical leadership to ensure technical design and implementation are aligned with business requirements.
Serves as the primary point of contact between the project team and the architecture delivery organization.
Ensures compliance of technology solutions with architectural standards.
Deliverables expected as part of the role include:
Strategy & roadmap development for the domain to support the overall enterprise strategy
Creating reference architectures and patterns.
Leading and participating in proof of concepts.
Writing, maintaining and enforcing architecture standards.
Consulting with project teams on how best to use database patterns and reference architectures.
Gathers Non-Functional Requirements
Partners with business analysts, systems analysts and engineers in gathering and reviewing non-functional requirements.
Identifies key business and technology drivers that impact architectures, including end-user requirements, existing application environment (including legacy and packaged systems), and performance/availability requirements.
Collaborates with application and infrastructure teams to understand scope and requirements.
Conducts assessments of current business and technology architectures.
Identifies and documents any risks, issues or critical success factors.
Translates project requirements into detailed designs consistent with long-term roadmaps.
Designs external system interfaces.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or related work experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience.
7-10 years of relevant experience.
Broad experience across architecture practices (data, infrastructure, applications and security) with depth of experience in at least one area.
Knowledge of Enterprise-wide architecture and ability to 'see the big picture' and how it affects current and future technologies.
Internal/External consulting experience that spans organizational boundaries and includes influencing technology & business leaders.
Depth of experience in the architecture, design, implementation and support of complex enterprise solutions.
Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and process improvements.
