Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Performs analysis and application programming as a functional area technical expert. Responsible for database and application programming projects and production support as part of the IT Department's Application Support Team. Contributes to analysis, design and programming for enterprise database applications.

Essential Duties

  • Serves as product expert in the configuration, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of designated enterprise applications and/or modules.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves application and database issues.

  • Performs implementation, backup and recovery of various database management systems.

  • Implements solutions via business process changes and / or a software solution where a software solution could be a front end and / or back end changes.

  • Contributes to solution identification for IT related issues by working with staff to identify system requirements, working with management to identify pertinent next steps, and provides solution recommendations.

  • Tracks day to day maintenance tasks and escalates as appropriate.

  • Trains and assists users in upgrades to system applications.

  • Plans and installs software and database upgrades and enhancements.

  • Coordinates with software vendor resources to resolve system problems and implement system enhancements.

  • Collaborates with full and part-time employees on projects to plan and implement.

  • Supports designated users on specific applications.

Additional Duties

  • Works with network and web support teams as needed to resolve cross platform issues.

  • Acts as consultant on computer applications and PC support.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer-related field

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum (4) years of experience with object-oriented programming languages and relational databases, including at least two (2) years of SQL and Java and/or Javascript

  • Minimum (2) years of experience with enterprise education software applications in a technical support role

  • Familiar with Agile development, business analysis, and project management methodologies

  • Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

At the college's discretion, additional qualifying education/experience may be substituted for experience/education on a year-for-year basis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Administration

  • Experience with Java or C#.NET

  • Experience with business analysis and Agile methodologies

  • Experience working in an end-user support role

  • Experience with Jenzabar product applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Well-developed oral communication skills as well as technical skills to present and exchange technical information

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Repetitive hand/wrist motion for data-entry and keyboarding functions. Lifting and moving of moderate-weight computing devices is sometimes required.

Position may include short notice deadlines, after hours responsiveness, frequent interruptions, and redirection of work assignment based on the needs of the College.

Salary:

Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
