Senior Analyst Operations Strategy

JetBlue is looking for a Senior Analyst of Operations Strategy in NYC. The Operations Planning & Analysis team works with the Network Planning/Scheduling team and all of the various operating groups on schedule levers, crew planning levers, manpower planning, etc. with the overarching goal of optimizing the tradeoff between operability & profitability. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of operational reliability and airline schedules, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills. Essential Responsibilities

  • Determine strategy for JetBlue operational reliability

  • Analyze JetBlue operational performance and assess potential constraints that hinder performance

  • Work with operating groups to determine requirements/buffers that would set them up for reliable performance and analyze (opportunity) cost/trade-offs of those

  • Actively review JetBlue's schedules to ensure agreed criteria are provided and look for opportunities to improve performance

  • Produce and ensure accuracy of monthly reporting for various internal teams; create automated reports and dashboards with operational data

  • Perform ad hoc operability-related projects in support of senior leadership

  • Build relationships with operational partners across the system

  • Support other teams including all operational divisions, Airline Planning and Finance

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, engineering or a related field

  • Strong capabilities with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) (such as Python or Visual Basic)

  • Three (3) years of analytical experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field

  • Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills

  • Experience communicating with senior leadership

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong written and verbal communication ability

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)

  • Must pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of work experience in aviation, management consulting, or a related field

  • One (1) year of work experience at an airline in Operations Planning, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Finance

  • Master's degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, engineering or a related field

  • Experience with statistical packages (e.g. R, Stata, SAS)

  • Experience with optimization models, linear and integer programming and or simulation

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)

Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))

Your team will own standards of work for our local operations and be accountable to driving down operational expenses while maintaining and improving quality. Operations leads the way in helping to build a culture of continuous process improvement and best-in-class operating processes throughout the business. You'll be responsible for the implementation of operational technology, identification and project management of operations improvement initiatives, and support of our Market Managers across the board including third party contract management. Responsibilities * Manage a team that handles all SOPs, workflow, and training documents for LBS operations * Create knowledge sharing systems across markets, and between operations and cross-functional partners * Build the infrastructure to scale operations from systems with 500 bikes or scooters, to 50,000 * Coordinate management of major third party service contracts for operations * Identify areas to drastically reduce opex and improve quality of service, test potential solutions, and roll out new processes and systems to the field in a standardized format * Develop processes for collecting, sizing, and prioritizing feedback from the field for product and engineering * Partner with senior operations leaders, finance, science and product/engineering to establish and meet operational targets * Apply structure to ambiguous and complex problems in different areas of our operations Requirements * 8+ years of experience; including ops experience, possibly in public transit operations or start-up environment (and/or consulting/business intelligence/strategy or related) * Proven track record of scrappiness and executing with lean teams * Creative problem solving and ability to work iteratively, taking advantage of short term impact opportunities while pursuing longer-term strategies and execution in parallel * Ability to think bold and come up with creative solutions to bend the cost curve * Able to prioritize and quickly act on the biggest areas of opportunity * Process orientation with excellent attention to detail * Comfort with shifting priorities and a fast-moving, break things environment * Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top talent * Fantastic financial acumen - you lead with data and facts * Ability to work with remote teams and across time zones to develop strategies and foster a cohesive and creative work environment * Ability to travel 25%+ of the time Lyft is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer that proudly pursues and hires a diverse workforce.
