The Role

You will be working closely with finance leadership and the executive team at Pantheon to manage the long-term growth plans, maintain a rolling forecast for revenue and OpEx, and ensure the company is allocating resources against high-impact high-priority initiatives. This role will bridge the gap between "traditional" FP&A, competitive strategy, and analytics.

We are looking for someone who can not only develop a deep understanding of the economics of our business but also provide guidance for the executive team around critical decisions such as fundraising, entering a new line of business, and go-to-market positioning.

Cool Things You'll Do

  • FP&A: manage the company's budget and rolling forecast; support accounting team with relevant month close inputs; work directly with executives and directors across the company to develop a data-driven view point on product, engineering, marketing, and sales

  • Growth: recommend how we should measure business impact and track ROI of key initiatives, support quarterly OKR process

  • Strategy: propose how Pantheon should build relationships with key players in the ecosystem or position itself against competitors; develop international expansion playbook across product, sales, and marketing

  • Go-to-market: work with sales & marketing teams to ensure the go-to-market thesis is grounded in data and supported through our pricing and packaging

  • Fundraising: develop investor materials and long term financial models to support CEO & CFO decision making

What You Bring To The Table

  • Relevant experience:
    3-5 years of consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, strategy, or business analytics experience.

  • Technical skills: ability to use quantitative models to inform strategic decisions; prior experience with SaaS, marketplaces, or forecasting in business contexts.

  • Structured thinking: comfort with numbers, details, and ambiguity; ability to break down complex problems into key levers.

  • Communication: clear thinking and presence; ability to develop and manage cross-functional processes; storytelling in a business context.

  • Passion: strong sense of ownership, desire to make a cross-functional impact, eagerness to learn, customer orientation.

  • Sense of humor

Organization Overview Energy Policy & Procurement (EPP) secures electricity and natural gas from wholesale markets for PG&E customers to ensure system reliability. In addition, EPP is responsible for long-term planning, risk management, and compliance functions related to PG&E's energy portfolio. The Summer Intern position resides within the Portfolio and Resource Forecasting (PRF) team. PRF is responsible for forecasting volumes, costs and impacts of demand- and supply-side energy resources and portfolio positions for commodity market products and services and compliance instruments. The team is also responsible for market assessment of supply-side and demand-side energy resources. PRF supports long-term planning for supply-side and demand-side resources, electric transmission and distribution infrastructure, and business strategies to meet the future energy needs of PG&E's customers reliably, at a reasonable cost, and consistent with company and regulatory/legislative environmental policies. Position Summary PG&E is seeking a highly motivated summer intern with an interest in electric market fundamental analysis and forecasting. PRF runs a number of models that simulate the western US wholesale electricity market for the purposes of price forecasting and policy analysis. Some specific examples of the analyses undertaken by PRF include cost/benefit analysis of new pump storage projects, an assessment of electric system reliability under aggressive state-wide electrification scenarios, and assessments of the impact of changing natural gas transportation rates on the demand for natural gas by the electric sector in California. The Summer Intern will support senior team members in developing and running the market simulation model(s) and in identifying market insights and trends. These insights will be used to inform PG&E's integrated resource planning process and various forecasting efforts that support PG&E policy and strategy initiatives. Position Summary Electricity Market Modelling: Assist staff in running electric production cost simulation model(s), which will include updating and expanding existing input databases, learning to run the model(s), and extracting output data Data Analysis: Analyze and report modelling results; quantify impacts of relevant market and/or policy drivers Data Management and Visualization : Access, extract, clean and explore large data sets. Build tools to visualize forecast(s). Create presentation materials to report findings and inform senior management Qualifications Minimum: * Earning a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Economics, Data Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, Public Policy, or related disciplines (students MUST be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship).
