Senior Analyst, Global Equities (Information Technology & Communication Services)
OMERS Capital Markets is seeking an analyst to join our Global Equities team in New York. The candidate will demonstrate a passion for fundamental equity research and investing, and intellectual curiosity about businesses and financial markets. A strong academic background will be complimented with knowledge of capital markets and asset management, and experience in analyzing and modelling companies in an equity research, private equity, or investment banking role.
The OMERS Capital Markets Global Equities team currently manages $15 billion on behalf of OMERS current and future retirees. Using a bottom-up research-driven approach, we seek attractive investment opportunities in the public equity markets that fit our quality-focused mandate.
As a member of the Global Equities team, you will:
Identify, research, and recommend investment ideas for inclusion in the portfolios
Continuously monitor and improve knowledge of existing investments
Conduct in-depth industry and company analysis, including a deep understanding of secular and cyclical trends and their impact on business economics
Build financial models to support business valuations
Actively participate in team investment reviews and debates
Contribute to development of investment frameworks and processes
Foster relationships with corporate management teams and other market participants
Share insights and collaborate with investment teams to build institutional knowledge and deliver the best outcomes for the pension plan
Become a subject matter expert in multiple subsectors and investible themes
Qualifications and abilities:
5-8 years of relevant investment experience, including experience researching companies in the Information Technology or Communications Services sectors
University degree in Business, Economics or Finance and a CFA designation; MBA or an Engineering degree are assets
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bloomberg
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to generate insights by distinguishing between signal and noise when processing information
Intellectual curiosity, a commitment to learning and self-improvement, and a demonstrated passion for investing
A self-starter with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail that complements an ability to see the big picture
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, logical, and convincing arguments and explain complex ideas simply
Excellent intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, and a strong team player - must contribute to a best-in-class team culture
As required by New York City law, OMERS provides a reasonable range of base salary for each role that is advertised in New York City. The salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill set and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered. For New York City only, the annualized base salary range for this role is $140,00 - 185,000.
You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award which may include Short-term Incentive and Long-Term Incentive payments, benefits, and/or retirement savings plan - details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS offer letters.
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. The base salary that is ultimately offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill set.
