Under general direction, prepares, analyzes and reviews financial reporting for the US segment of Lifeco in accordance with IFRS accounting standards. Calculates, coordinates, and analyzes deferred acquisition expenses in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. Supports internal and external audit processes. Performs, monitors, mitigates and remediates SOX compliance issues. Performs month-end close processes as assigned.
What you will do:
Prepares, analyzes and reviews Lifeco reporting including the MD&A, Financial Statements, Analyst related reporting and other reporting requests as needed ensuring accuracy and consistency with other reported results.
Coordinate with other financial reporting staff to ensure consistency, where applicable, in reporting SEC filings including Forms 10-K and 10-Q and filings to other regulatory agencies.
Ensures filings are accurate and timely in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
Calculates, coordinates, and analyzes deferred acquisition expenses on an IFRS and US GAAP accounting basis.
Includes, compilation of the Deferred Acquisition Cost (DAC) roll forward for each line of business for IFRS and US GAAP, analysis for reasonableness and understanding of the change in DAC, coordination of the annual DAC factor update process, and yearly updates to a) the DAC memo noting results of the factor updates and b) the DAC annual business process memo for each line of business.
Monitors and stays abreast of any accounting guidance updates as it relates to the calculation of deferred acquisition expenses.
Also, stays abreast of industry best practices as it relates to the calculation of deferred acquisition expenses.
Supports internal and external audit processes as needed. Acts as a liaison to other areas of the business on financial reporting questions and issues.
Performs, monitors, mitigates and remediates SOX compliance issues identified through internal and external audit processes.
Stays abreast of all financial reporting and compliance regulatory changes that may impact the business.
Implements regulatory changes to reporting processes under the guidance of the department manager and Technical Accounting Department.
Works with systems and projects teams to automate, maintain, update, and improve existing processes and procedures.
What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Math, related field, or equivalent experience.
Four (4) years of experience in accounting and/or finance roles. Public Accounting experience preferred.
What will set you apart:
Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills required; advanced Excel skills required.
SAP experience preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail required.
Ability to independently analyze data, problem solve solutions, and present options.
Ability to work independently with all levels of management.

Base Salary Range
$80,100.00 - $113,175.00
The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
