About the Opportunity:

We are currently seeking Senior Analyst candidates for the Pasadena, CA office's Competition Practice.

Senior Analysts are responsible for the completion of qualitative and quantitative research and analysis projects. While each project presents a different set of challenges, Analysts can generally expect to perform extensive data analyses, conduct industry research, and review case evidence. Analysts are involved in nearly all aspects of project work, interacting closely with other analysts, economists and case supervisors in researching and analyzing data used to prepare final work product. Analysts are expected to demonstrate sound analytical judgment and to progress to a level of initiative consistent with the ability to satisfactorily recommend appropriate research, analyses and actions and to implement them with continued consultation of supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis:

  • Collects specific information (quantitative and qualitative) from identified sources as instructed by supervisors.

  • Utilizes appropriate resources (e.g., Internet, library, subscription services, colleagues, etc.) to identify the range of sources of relevant information, both quantitative and qualitative.

  • Identifies, collects and communicates relevant information (e.g., price; included and excluded information; dates of coverage, etc.).

  • Interprets collected information so that it can be used by economists and case supervisors in the preparation of their expert reports and analyses.

  • Successfully expands scope of research as suggested by supervisors.

  • Executes projects (qualitative and quantitative) as instructed by, and communicates actions to, supervisors.

  • Successfully incorporates modifications to projects and analyses as requested by supervisors.

  • Identifies and communicates data, information and/or inconsistencies to supervisors.

  • Utilizes case-specific documents (e.g., depositions, trial transcripts, expert reports, produced documents, etc.) to identify information specified by supervisors.

  • Summarizes and extracts information relevant to the arguments of the case from case-specific documents.

  • Analyzes data used in client projects when asked by supervisors.

  • Formulates and utilizes basic data modeling as requested by supervisors.

  • Effectively creates, organizes and maintains document lists and other methods for internal document management.

  • Effectively documents research and analyses to facilitate communication of progress.

Work Product Preparation:

  • Synthesizes large amounts of data into a clear and concise summary using Excel or statistical software.

  • Produces graphical or tabular exhibits using PC software applications or programming on the mainframe.

  • Creates and organizes documentation and backup of work product in hard copy or electronic file format.

  • Proofreads and identifies errors in charts, tables and other work products.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics or a related field. Significant coursework in economics, mathematics and statistics is a plus.

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills.

  • Master's degree in economics or a related field is highly preferred. Significant coursework in economics, mathematics and statistics is a plus.

  • Proficient in the use of SAS, Stata or other statistical software programs

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Programming Skills.

  • Prior experience working with large amounts of data.

  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment handling multiple tasks and demands.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

  • Excellent time/stress management skills.

Position Classification: Non-Exempt

East West Bank is currently seeking a Senior Collateral Analyst for our Asset Based Lending team. This role will report to the SVP, Manager of Asset Based Lending. Responsibilities * Maintain electronic folders in department share drive that includes: aging files, Borrower Based Review (BBR) files, Funding Folder which includes Borrowing Based Certificate (BBC) template, loan doc, loan approval (CCR) and correspondences. * Upon receipt of reports and BBC, post collateral value into loan system, update ticklers in Ontrack, pull bank statements, save files in share drive and send them to Synergy for imaging. * Determine the segment based on guidelines, requests for sample of invoices and proof of shipments. * Perform Account Receivable Verification * Run Experian reports for days beyond terms (DBT) for borrower and debtors with high concentrations. * Update collateral value after completion of BBR (if applicable) * Review AR, AP aging, inventory reports and bank statements. Prepare Borrowing Base Review (BBR) and Borrowing Base Review Issue page that identifies unfavorable collateral information, changes to trends, issues to determine the effect upon the bank's collateral, exceptions to EWB standards and unique features due to unique structure. * Based on the review, make decision to raise flags in related to the credit to Risk Manager, Relationship Manager (RM) and Credit Supervision. * Distribute BBR and BBR issue page. If flag is raised, tracking RM responses and follow up on approvals by Credit Supervisor. * Meet prospect or existing borrowers at RM or Credit Supervision's request. Explain and train borrower to prepare BBC package and how to calculate borrowing base. * Be flexible in accommodating the schedules of RM's and Loan Servicing in the process of funding new loans and renewing existing facilities when meeting mandatory deadlines is critical. * Participate in collateral exams from time to time to gain knowledge of possible fraudulent reporting. * Upon review of collateral exam update the collateral review to reflect changes in account debtor credit terms, AR ineligibles, slow moving inventory and any other issues. * Prepare 'Temporary Over-advance Acknowledge Form' as necessary and follow for executed copy. * For new ABL loans, setup new loan files, obtain latest reports and review and calculate borrowing base. Prepare BBC template and Funding BBC. Review terms related to borrowing base, eligible account sand inventory in Business Loan Agreement to ensure that the approved CCR are in agreement. * For modification or renewal on existing line, revise BBC template and prepare funding BBC if applicable. Review terms related to borrowing base, eligible account sand inventory in Business Loan Agreement to ensure that the approved CCR are in agreement. * Complete understanding of regulatory compliance regarding commercial lending. * Train junior team members in adherence with ABL guidelines and assist with queries as necessary. * Perform Liquidation Analysis according to bank guidelines. * Special projects as assigned.
