This GCB5 IT Engineering Senior Engineer (Senior Analyst Business Systems) role is based within Core Banking Software Delivery, primarily supporting the Low Value Payments applications owned by Retail Banking & Wealth Management and Global Liquidity & Cash Management.
The role of this Senior Engineer is to support the Input Control System (ICS) application. This application is a critical to transaction routing and internal financial control. It is a SOX application.
Your responsibilities will include:
Solution design Understanding business functional and data requirements for transaction routing and general ledger accounting offsets.
Production support Resolving production incidents and ad-hoc research requests through contribution of technical, business, process and data knowledge as well as quality control and risk management.
Planning and forecasting - Contributing to the estimation of work effort and the development of technical approaches/designs to deliver against business targets.
Communication Translating business and technical terminology to bridge the gap between teams. Advising technology and business management of status and escalating issues in an appropriate and timely fashion. Liaise with other technicians across multiple geographies.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Mainframe platform knowledge including COBOL, TWS, VSAM and DB2
Good understanding of accounting for banks and related internal controls
Minimum 8 years experience working in relevant environment(s)/role(s), i.e. Application Development, Production Support
Excellent spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
Experience with Outlook, Jira, Confluence and Jabber is a plus though not required
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a major or minor in Computer Science or related field
