Job Description:

The Senior Analyst, Business Insights and Data Analytics will be a key team member contributing to the strategic development, design, implementation, and maintenance of the analytics platform. This includes driving complex projects requiring consolidation of multiple data sources, building an interactive reporting environment, leading data governance, ensuring data integrity, and utilizing technology to support the financial and operational needs of the business. The Senior Analyst, Business Insights and Data Analytics will work closely and collaboratively with the business, managing scope, project work and associated risks to identify data that will inform strategy and enhance results. This is an expert professional with deep technical knowledge especially with regards to data visualization.

Preferred skills

• Experience with the following or equivalent business intelligence tools: SQL, Python, R, Power BI, and/or Data IQ

• Intermediate or advanced Tableau development experience

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, or related major is required

• 5 years of relevant Finance experience

• Strong business acumen supported by an understanding of the insurance and investment business; Sun Life specific experience is a plus

• Ability to navigate across the organization to gain support and assistance on projects

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required with the ability to act independently when timing may be tight or not all information is available

• Attention to detail and accuracy of information produced

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate analytics in a clear and concise manner to all levels of employees, including senior management

• Ability to translate client requests into actionable and meaningful data solutions

Responsibilities

• Identify relevant analytical projects and help drive them to closure in collaboration with the business unit and other stakeholders within Sun Life International HuBS

• Instill a data-driven culture and develop both an analytics strategy and schedule for reporting. Create reports, dashboards, and tools to present to leadership and other stakeholders. Focus efforts on goals, opportunities, results, and trends to inform management-level decision making and planning

• Support in the evolution of analytics in the organization, including but not limited to sales forecasting, product profitability, expense analysis, policy holder behavior, investments performance, etc.

• Serve as a liaison with key partners and work closely with and manage data integration, requests, and reporting needs with Leadership, Finance, Actuarial, Operations, Distribution, and Underwriting. This includes implementing tools and resources to assist with data sharing and integration between data systems

• Scope and direct projects to ensure that the deliverables are properly designed to accurately address the given concerns and that timelines and scope are adhered to

• Drive a culture of data driven decision making that will institutionalize the use of analytics to inform and support business solutions

• Assist the efforts to identify, consolidate, validate, and standardize data across functions

• Work with data team to manage and support data hygiene efforts. Lead the implementation of data standards and common data elements for data collection. Lead data governance efforts including user access and permissions

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for data sources, reporting, and ad hoc requests. Collaborate with others to ensure best practices, industry standards, and efficiency

• Work closely with supervisor and management on industry trends, technological advancements, and planning to support a culture of innovation

• Manage data resources using a systems approach to workflow, priorities, and discipline

• Assist in on-demand analysis and recommend solutions on major business issues as they arise

• Identify and coordinate specific complex cross-functional projects to address efficiency and standardization of reporting
