Expertise and Functions

  • Execute understanding of aircraft electrical wiring diagrams, fault isolation (FI) guides, technical order (TO) and work unit card (WUC) documentation
  • Perform system and component level fault isolation of aircraft electrical and electronics systems using technical data and wiring schematics
  • Troubleshoot aircraft wiring utilizing TDRs, DMMs, RF Analyzers, MIL-STD-1553 data bus testers, and specialized OEM and government test systems as required
  • Perform testing on items such as: Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM) system, ALE-47 and AAR-47 systems on C-5 aircraft, MIL-STD-1553 cables, Radio Frequency (RF) cables and new or existing test equipment
  • Conduct finite element analysis, damage tolerance analysis, nondestructive inspection (NDI), destructive testing, modeling
  • Review technical data for accuracy and thoroughness and provide recommendations for change or improvement
  • Provide Subject matter expertise (SME) for C-5 Technical Assistance Requests including 107s, 202s
  • Provide analysis support to C-5 Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Engineering Requirements Review Board (ERRB)
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to either Program Manager, Staff Engineer or Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation, test or validation/verification assistance
  • Perform testing or project events as assigned by Program Manager or Engineering supervisor, report status, results and proposed solutions
  • Identify and evaluate alternate solutions for the functional system Electrical Wiring Interconnectivity System (EWIS) and avionic deficiencies which adversely affect aircraft safety, readiness, and sustainability
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Education/Training (both required and desired):
    • Bachelors Degree in management, engineering or other relevant discipline required
    • Degree requirement can be waived for 5 years of experience in the required task area, in addition to requirement below
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of professional experience in the required task area
  • Security:
    • Must be a US citizen
    • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

General Summary: The Business System Technician II performs routine installation, maintenance, and repair activities for network systems including voice, data, network, transport, and video equipment.
