Wanted: The Engineering and Analysis Solutions Directorate (EASD) of AMERICAN SYSTEMS is looking for a qualified Senior Air Warfare Analyst/Test Engineer.

As a Senior Air Warfare Analyst/Test Engineer you will:

  • Leverage your experience to provide aircraft/weapon systems DT&E support to fighter/bomber or weapon program offices and analytical support to the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and the Director, DT&E in the area of Air Warfare Programs.

A week in the life of a Senior Air Warfare Analyst/Test Engineer:

  • Advise program T&E working-level integrated product teams (WIPTs) as they develop Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPS).

  • Prepare Deputy Director, Air Warfare for decision meetings at the senior OSD or US Air Force/Navy acquisition levels.

  • Assess and coordinate OSD approval of program TEMPs.

  • Assess test results, technical risk, readiness to execute test strategy, and programmatic issues.

  • Conduct analysis of MDAP program's developmental test results and provide a DT Assessment (DTA) of program's test planning and execution, performance, reliability, interoperability, and cybersecurity prior to acquisition milestones.

  • Prepare position papers for senior-level OSD acquisition decision makers.

  • Develop technical positions and policy recommendations regarding DT&E and resource/infrastructure support for MDAP programs.

  • Represent D, DT&E to other OSD offices and Service acquisition managers.

Job Requirements

  • Developmental flight test experience of fighter, bomber, or air-to-air/air-to-ground weapons.

  • Bachelor of Science degree and 14 years of experience in engineering, systems analysis, management, or related discipline and 10 years relevant test and evaluation experience in testing of DoD aircraft weapon systems is desired.

  • Test pilot school graduate preferred.

  • Experience in DoD MDAP air warfare acquisition programs developmental test and evaluation programs, and systems analysis.

  • Experience at the OSD or Service headquarters level. Must be able to quickly draft OSD-level issue papers, staff summaries, memoranda, and briefings, translating program technical issues into executive-level terms for senior executive decision makers and government staff assistants.

  • Working knowledge of the operating practices and relationships among OSD, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Service headquarters, and program offices.

  • Knowledgeable of the functions and practices of OSD and the DoD 5000 acquisition instruction.

  • Other operational experience and/or shore related assessment-type positions may satisfy parts of these requirements.

  • Must have a Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Engineering and responsibilities span the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and collaborate with technical and subject matter experts to address power solutions for existing electrical distribution systems and equipment; as well as for leading efforts to chart long-term worldwide solutions tailored to local conditions, mission, and other considerations. Day-to-day this position works as a key member within the Infrastructure Technology Development Branch (TDB) and the chief task is to develop and support power solutions for all technical security systems (TSS) within the responsibilities assigned to the Technology Development Branch. Systems developed/supported are instrumental for providing safe and secure diplomatic facilities around the globe. The performance of these duties and responsibilities takes place applying the TDB Engineering Process which is very similar to the System Engineering Lifecycle Process. The process assures that systems are identified through a defined market research process, narrowed-down to viable candidates for rigorous evaluation and testing, tested with conclusions that withstand scrutiny, and implemented in a predictable consistently successful manner by the field. Acts as primary technical liaison with customers and sponsors, in all things pertaining to power both low (less than 50V) to high (up to 1000V) voltage, to include the preparation and presentation of high-level technical information. Analyzes, evaluates, and plans methods of approach for projects and assisting embassies worldwide on power distribution systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR), Power Supplies with battery backups, organizes means to achieve the solution of problems. Plans and executes laboratory research and/or the development and/or evaluation of power systems and components. Analyzes the theoretical bases and principles which apply and the empirical test procedures to be used. Conducts investigations or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes and investigates possible applications of results. Interprets and evaluates test data and results of investigations and develops recommendations. Recommends necessary corrections in technical analyses and design to ensure successful project completion. Specifies equipment, wiring and protection methods, materials and suppliers required for completion and implementation of projects. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide or build required services, supplies, or equipment. Coordinates with assigned staff. May serve as technical team or task leader. Demonstrates creative ability through design skills, problem solving or technical papers and articles. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Knowledge of National Electrical Code, Standards (IEEE, TIA, etc.), and best industry practices. Education Bachelor's Degree in Electric Engineering, from ABET accredited institution. Master's Degree preferred. Qualifications Minimum of two years of related experience in testing, engineering or quality assurance. In addition to strong engineering, analytic skills, inquisitive nature, desire to protect US facilities and personnel to the utmost; successful candidates will have strong writing and verbal skills.
