Job Description

CACI is seeking a Senior Communications Engineer to support the Consolidated AFSCN Modifications, Maintenance, and Operations (CAMMO) Contract which maintains the requirement of operational performance through a consolidated service of operations, site support, organizational and depot maintenance, sustainment, engineering, modifications, and factory/launch compatibility testing for the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN). In this position you will support the current and future operations and sustainment model of the AFSCN.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Candidate, as a subject matter expert, performs a variety of complex communication engineering tasks researching, designing, developing, analyzing, modeling, testing and simulating communications systems and sub-systems for satellite ground system antennas. Participates as a team member or lead on teams and provides guidance to less advanced engineers. Engineering activities support both domestic and international services.

  • Serve as the AFSCN Communications Segment technical expert and interface between CACI, the CAMMO customer, and the AFSCN operations community

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a BS in engineering or equivalent + 7 years' experience

  • There is no clearance requirement to begin employment. As a requirement of continued employment you will be required to obtain a secret clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for a secret clearance.

  • 7 years' experience with:

  • Satellite ground system antennas

  • Interfacing with the satellite ground systems operations community and developing solutions to satisfy operations, maintenance, and sustainment requirements

  • Produce corrective action plans; provide recommendations and management to resolve complex communication engineering issues at the enterprise and segment levels of the AFSCN

  • Test design and execution

  • Leading range engineering project teams

  • DoD/Air Force systems engineering concepts and processes

  • Proven track record of:

  • Performing complex engineering tasks of analysis, design, and test

  • Range engineering proposal support and project management

  • Review, assessment, and adjudication and Air Force weapon system deficiencies

  • At least 4 years of experience with at least 2 of the following:

  • Ground systems antenna RF

  • Knowledge of satellite tracking stations

  • Cyber security and RMF requirements

VIEW JOBS 8/22/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-20T00:00 Job Summary: Serves as a full-time on-site analyst/engineer at a sponsor's facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado for at least 3 years, with the potential to either extend longer in Colorado, or to be re-posted back to JHU/APL in Laurel, MD. Participate in projects developing the next generation of communications software and hardware for the National Security Space mission area. Project tasks include advanced algorithm development, modeling & simulation, and communications systems design. Tasks may also include hardware-in-the-loop integration, testing, and analysis with a diverse team from across the laboratory and with government sponsors. Duties: * Develop advanced communications systems algorithms to solve unique and emerging needs * Perform systems level technical analysis, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives * Make recommendations to sponsors on mission/system requirements * Develop requirements and tools for verification and validation efforts * Participate in engineering team meetings and overall technical development efforts * Support field development/deployment exercises, where applications are developed against live environments Note: This job summary and listing of duties is for the purpose of describing the position and its essential functions at time of hire and may change over time. Required Qualifications: * B.S. in engineering, physics, computer science, or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of professional engineering experience * MATLAB, C, C , Python, Java, and CUDA or other high-level programming language * Demonstrated knowledge/experience with communication system architectures, technologies, and waveforms * Demonstrated knowledge/experience with digital signal processing, including filtering, channelization, communications receiver synchronization, and frequency domain analysis * Demonstrated knowledge/experience with communications transmitters/receivers, including channel coding and protocol analysis, and the ability to determine PHY and MAC parameters for unknown signals * Familiarity with Linux operating systems and algorithm development in this environment * Demonstrated leadership capability working with technical teams and/or sponsors * Demonstrated communications skills delivering technical presentations and producing written documentation * Must be an existing JHU/APL Senior Staff employee Desired Qualifications: * M.S. (or higher) in engineering, physics, or equivalent with 5-10 years of professional engineering experience * Hands-on experience with satellite communication technology (transmitters and receivers) * Coding experience with respect to communications signals analysis * Top Secret clearance with SCI accesses * Experience with documenting system development and operations to support a user operating environment Special Working Conditions: Must be able to travel internationally (up to 15% of normal working schedule) in support of field testing and system development.
