The Senior Advisor will work with the Strategy Coordination & Implementation (SCI) group to collaborate with stakeholders across Transformation & Distribution (T&D) by enabling system strategies to efficiently achieve strategic goals through coordinating work processes and studies, developing methodologies and training, and sponsoring expansion driven projects to meet the needs of the system, including the development and implementation of new work processes and improvements to existing work processes. The Advisor will manage the Stage Gate Decision Process that is designed to capture, evaluate and facilitate changes to baseline operating plan through informed decision making as it relates to Wildfire Mitigation efforts. This position will provide continuous improvement enhancements and coordination efforts for the implementation of the Wildfire Stage Gate Process. This position will be critical to the success of SCI's mission including its contribution to the support of SCE's Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) and the improvement of other work processes.

This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager of the Strategy Coordination & Implementation (SCI) department - under the Asset Management Strategy and Engineering (AMS&E) division of T&D.

  • Enhance, coordinate and implement processes that are designed to capture, evaluate and facilitate changes to baseline operating plans through informed decision making as it relates to Wildfire Mitigation efforts and Distribution initiatives

  • Strategic oversight in developing internal programs and processes

  • Supports coordination and standardization of methodologies

  • Act as a program/project lead managing through matrixed employees/ teams/ vendors who are not direct reports but for which the incumbent has direct accountability to lead and achieve program/project objectives

  • Creates, reports, and presents materials related to asset class strategy development and/or updates within and outside the organization and to senior leadership

  • Develops strong relationships with critical stakeholders

  • Guides and supports work streams related to developing and/or improving SCE's Wildfire Mitigation Plan and Aids in development of future vision and ongoing improvements

The essentials

  • Ten years or more of overall experience in any of the following: in developing, coordinating, implementing programs, processes or projects; project/program management, business operations, strategic planning, engineering, or similar skill set

The preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Electrical Engineering, Economics or other related discipline

  • Experience in Distribution Planning, Engineering, Project Management or related discipline

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience achieving desired outcomes and actions through negotiation and influence

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients' business needs

  • Experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to ensure stakeholder buy-in

  • Experience integrating work across an organization

  • General knowledge and/or understanding of electric utility transmission & distribution equipment, business processes, and operations

  • Proficiency with the following software tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

In this job, you'll be part of Transmission/Distribution Linear and Structural Strategies which develops and documents all Transmission & Distribution (T&D) asset lifecycle strategies and stages. You will support the overall asset strategies that would rank and focus the company on the right priorities for investment in capital and infrastructure replacement projects and programs for T&D assets. This person is responsible for performing in-depth analyses for each of the T&D asset classes such as underground cable, overhead conductor, transmission towers, poles, underground structures and others. This Senior Advisor will also serve as the subject matter specialist for their assigned asset classes (and for asset management practices & methods in general) and will apply innovation and creativity to set direction and drive the advancement of capabilities in this area. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! * Developing and managing asset strategies for investment program decisions. * Directing a team of Engineers and an Advisor to perform in-depth analysis and evaluate cost-to-risk buy down and cost-to-benefits for each assigned asset class and deliver a set of priorities for investment focus. * Serving as the lead editor for formal asset strategy documents. * Leading the development of infrastructure replacement projects & programs for assigned asset categories. * Communicating and collaborating with key partners in Engineering, Planning, Field Operations, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and other Organizational Units to gather feedback and ensure consensus and support for asset strategies. * Provide functional direction to an immediate team to develop complete asset life-cycle evaluation analyses - spanning from new asset acquisition, through ongoing operation & maintenance/asset performance, and concluding in asset replacement/retirement. * Working closely with the Senior leadership to monitor, track progress, and report on asset strategies. The Essentials * Bachelor's Degree. * Ten or more years of experience developing business or strategic plans and/or experience working with models and performing analyses to support decision-making. * Five or more years of Electric Utility Industry experience within Transmission and Distribution. The Preferred * Master's in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering or equivalent work experience. * Experience with Transmission and Distribution asset management and asset class strategies. * Five or more years of experience working in T&D project management. * Two or more years of experience implementing Process Improvements with department/ organizational level impacts. * Experience in supporting General Rate Case activity (e.g. testimony development, strategy and data request). * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Experience performing in-depth analysis and developing recommendations to respond to customer business needs. * Experience prioritizing activities, delegating, monitoring assignments, and holding team members accountable for results. * Experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure partner consensus. * Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Access and Project.
