General Statement

This position is responsible for assisting Quinsigamond Community College in meeting enrollment goals each year. This is accomplished through the formulation and execution of an Admissions and Recruitment strategic plan that includes targeted advertising; community outreach; and written, electronic, and telephonic communications.

In this role, this person serves as a public facing ambassador for the Office of Admission, Recruitment, and Events at Quinsigamond Community College. This position will involve in-person and virtual recruitment as well as projects across the office which may involve working with student groups, assisting with office programs, responding to and working with prospective students and families, engaging campus partners, and supporting campus events. They will also be responsible for supporting roles in larger projects that work towards office priorities and goals. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

The person in this role provides information, assistance, and guidance to prospective students regarding college programs, career exploration, and admissions. This person is responsible for guiding prospective students through the enrollment process and promotes the College to partners within the service area. They perform related work as directed.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of student Recruitment and Outreach

  • Provides information, assistance, and guidance to prospective students regarding college programs and career exploration. Offers guidance to assist students in planning to meet their education objectives and assists students in completing required forms for Admissions. Must have an appreciation of and zeal for working with diverse populations.

  • Interacts and communicates with students about the admissions process and their status. Communicates with students via phone, email, walk-ins and appointments. Completes outreach to students to assist them in completing the admissions and enrollment process.

  • Provides to all interested in high demand programs guidance about qualifications, requirements, and status updates. Facilitates monthly health information session.

  • Provides timely, responsive, flexible and high-quality customer service to various constituents: Students, faculty, staff, and partners in our service area.

  • Promotes the college to high schools, community agencies, churches, and companies in the service area. Builds relationships and leverages them into student enrollments. Promotes the college, its programs, and enrollment by attending recruitment activities, visiting high schools, conducting college tours and information sessions. Has the ability to travel extensively in central Massachusetts.

  • Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities, like scheduled admissions events. Collects, analyzes, interprets, and reports out on data.

  • Is able to utilize reference materials, operate a computer, and utilize desktop software such as the Microsoft suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, and 365. Monitors and replies to general admissions emails and voicemails. Creates and maintains admissions-related correspondence.

  • Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas. Research new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions when possible.

  • Works independently with little supervision; possesses a self-motivated disposition. Works with Enrollment Coaches to resolve student issues, answer questions, and increase yield.

  • Assists in the development of an Admissions/Enrollment strategic plan. Creates and maintains policies and procedures related to admissions work. Continuously assesses processes and procedures and makes recommendations to revise accordingly. Coordinates with all departments to ensure a seamless enrollment process for all students.

  • Attends meetings and communicates with the supervisor, colleagues, other departments, students, faculty, other educational entities, the public, outside agencies, companies, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review status of projects, exchange information, and solve problems. Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes.

  • Serves as a backup for the residency process and the tuition equity process for undocumented students. Serves as a DSO - Designated School Official working with international students. Provides assistance to international students in the completion of their admissions application, submission of documentation, and the visa process.

  • Work with colleagues from the Workforce Development and the Early College programs (Dual Enrollment, Attend College Early, and Gateway to College) in order to increase matriculation from these programs to QCC.

  • Works actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college-wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork.

  • Embraces the ideals of diversity and inclusivity and supports the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socioeconomic status, ethnic heritage, and sexual orientation.

  • Must be able to work 9-5 or 10-6 with one day a week from 11-7 for coverage purposes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • 3 years' experience and/or training involving college enrollment, customer service/relations, or office administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Direct experience in counseling and servicing high school and college students/guidance counselors with a diverse population.

  • Successful experience in a position that required strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and independent work.

  • Experience with record and information systems and/or complex record management systems.

  • Experience in going above and beyond to provide impeccable customer service; anticipating population needs and fulfilling them.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education at a professional level in admissions, student services, or student affairs, especially at a community college.

  • Experience in recruitment, advising, transfer, counseling, job development, and/or career placement in a college setting.

  • Bilingual, especially Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English.

  • Experience working with international students.

Anticipated salary range for Master's level is $58,156-$63,440 annually; pay grade 4. Includes a complete fringe benefit package such as competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits; Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Based upon student needs, some evenings and weekends may be required.
