Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: The incumbent in this position will serve as the administrative support to the Classification Administrator and provide control and distribution of sensitive and confidential information entering and exiting the Classification Administrator's Office. Assists the Classification Administrator in his role as Transfer Coordinator for Ellsworth Correctional Facility (ECF), to include the arrangement of resident transfers between facilities and scheduling moves with the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) Transportation Coordinator. Tracks and records resident payroll in the computer, including information from time sheets for Food Service residents assigned to the Kansas Correctional Industries (KCI) employment program. Enters pay raises after determining residents have been steadily employed for 120 days and after receiving approval from Unit Team. Answers questions from residents and staff concerning resident pay. Computes resident payroll in a timely manner and provides the Accounting Department with the necessary reports. Enters Offender Activities Reports (OAR) information into the computer daily (i.e. bunk moves, segregation moves, and job assignments). Completes count information and verifies with the Records Department to confirm number of residents in and out of the facility. Enters other miscellaneous data in the Offender Management Information System (OMIS) as necessary. Supervises, assigns, and evaluates the work of one Administrative Assistant. Interviews, hires, and supervises one Classification custodian, ensuring the Unit Team and Classification office areas are kept clean and safe for staff and residents.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensing & Certification: Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in general office, clerical, and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of OMIS; operation of office equipment, personal computers, and communications systems; and ability to use basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass a background test and drug screen.
