Duties include serving as primary clerical support for the Fire Prevention Division; compiling various reports such as Tier II, school fire drill and false alarms structure fire reports; monitoring the IFD Compliance Outlook inbox; processing all open records requests; and acting as the inspection complaints liaison for contractors, business owners, and the general public. Additional duties include front desk customer service responsibilities such as answering the telephone and greeting visitors; typing memos, reports and letters; database management; and other general office tasks.
Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma plus some college or related training and two years of administrative support experience required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. A résumé must be submitted with application.
PAY GRADE GG14 / FULL PAY RANGE $21.28 - $30.02 PER HOUR

It provides response to fire, medical, extrication, hazardous materials, and other emergencies on a 24 hour per day basis from 12 strategically located stations.
The Fire Department operates 12 engine companies, five aerial truck companies and ten Mobile Intensive Care Units.
The Irving Fire Department became the first fire department in the State of Texas to complete and be awarded Best Practices Recognition status by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association (TFCA) in 2014 and the first to re-certify in 2019.

Employees that successfully complete their 6-month orientation period will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000 provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
Employees that successfully complete one year of employment without
documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000.
